funny thing is if you look at a Walker Exhaust catalog, and look at those type of clamps, Walker themselves they cost a lot of money and are prone to leaking

When you see something like that in manufacturer literature , them telling you the part is crap, you steer away from it

FWIW, and I'm not preaching.
I don't usually give a fat rats arse about what other people do, but usually I'll contact the vendor directly first, and depending on the level of f**ks given, I'll decide whether to bag them publicly.
I haven't always been this mellow, but it keeps my blood prssure out of triple digits.
Yeah, agree, but... It's all fun and games until you're the one under the car for 4+ hours, scrambling to either get a mod to work or get it to come apart so you can revert to previous working config. And when that happens, nobody wants to be around us. Hell, even the garage scorpions flee when I start cursing and flinging tools. I get it.

A little clarity Mr. Smurf I never asked for nor did I solicit a response from Steeda.

And Frogwhatever, I’ll be sure to ask you before I post again, make sure it’s ok with you 😩
Please work through your sales professional as that is the proper channel to request additional support.

Best,

TJ
Thanks @25Raptor.
My suggestion: Have a beverage, relax and think of something else for a few hours - nothing Mustang related. Come back to it on Monday.

It seems TJ is suggesting you reach out, so I'd avail myself of that offer were I in your shoes. And I have been, more than once. Not with Steeda and full disclosure I've bought multiple things from Steeda, and not had and issue myself.

good luck..

You know what would be a great video for Steeda. Take the hundreds or thousands of dollars of these clamps and take them to the recycler and get the true value back in cents or dollars. Good way to turn this around. Show you don't want to ship us junk.

Why is it bad to report a part that was bad yesterday, still bad today, and will likely be bad tomorrow? Thats called looking out for your fellow mustang brothers. I thank him.
Is this a sponsorship thing?
Hey sponsor- don't sell junk.
Sponsor- we removed it from sales.

Boom. Everyone is happy. Sponsor shows it listens to its customers.
Its not complicated or controversial. At least it shouldn't be.

I think there's enough fault to go around to both parties. OP should have tried to work with the vendor before blasting them here. Steeda should have responded better.

Best of luck to both.
How should we have responded better? We sell 1000s of these kits a year & one customer has a concern with the product & I informed him that they are sourced to our specs by a reputable manufacturer. I informed him I would let the team know & that he should contact his sales professional.

I haven't seen him directly reach out to us - when he does, we will work with him to get this matter resolved.

Best,

TJ

Can you not look at the pics subjectively and say, that design sucks? Are you even looking? You actually spec'd a bolt with no way to mechanically grip the head? No flat bolt resting on a flat surface to lock it in? You spec'd an angled cut on the bolt resting on an angled piece of sheetmetal and said that meets our specs?

You're a great company that makes great products. Your dyno videos are honest. I'll buy from you before another company addng boostane to fudge numbers. Don't die on this hill. It's silly.

I most certainly have been under the car mining the depths of my vocabulary of obscenities when shit happens. Like the Sebring supercharger support bracket that was made of cheese. And multitude of similar stuff. Been doing this for 57 years, I have a large vocab now.
But, having had my own business, luckily pre internet, I do know that it's good to have a chance to fix things before a customer takes the nuclear option.

You questioned our response, which we addressed. Everyone at Steeda has seen the thread details and photos.

Given our high sales volume of both standard and heavy-duty clamps, it's highly improbable that widespread issues would go unreported, beyond this specific instance we are addressing.

These clamps have been used in exhaust system installations on many vehicles, including our Steeda Performance Vehicles. To claim we're "dying on a hill" by asking the customer to use the proper channels is silly. When a customer attempts to damage our reputation, we will defend our manufacturing processes and part quality, that is where we will die on a hill for.

Best,
TJ

Wow! Yes. I questioned your response that you spec'd a part that has no way to be mechanically held by a tool or square hole or a flat to flat connection. I'm doing it again.

Defending a bad product is what i am referring to. Lets say he did go through the proper channel. Same result would happen since your standing by it. Sure, i could see you refunding it. But in his mind its still a bad product. I would still be obliged to make a thread about it even if you refunded it.

I personally have to agree with Steeda on this one. No, I am not affiliated with them in any way except that I have purchased and used parts from them quite a bit over the years. Out of the dozens of purchases with them, I think I have had issues with 2 items, which when contacted, they were beyond helpful rectifying the situation. Never would I jump on a forum, Facebook group, etc. and start bashing them before giving them a chance to correct the issue if found to be their mistake. Posting negatively under a forum name without directly reaching out to Steeda first is BS. I could understand if they were contacted first and did nothing or ignored the OP, but this doesn't seem to be the case. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me.

Reading this as I sit here with my Steeda H-Pipe getting ready to be installed tomorrow... with the standard clamps it came with. Fingers crossed I have better luck.
I did the H Pipe using the standard clamps, they failed within a day. Same song and dance from Steeda about they are good quality. No confidence in clampsand the pipe falling forward would be really bad so had it welded at local muffler shop. That money spent is better than any clamps IMHO

I dont care either way about the post. The responses from TJ would have landed him in my office this morning. No positives. How about " sorry you are having problems, ......."
It looked like a canned response from an uncaring employee. When people are frustrated with a product they will react in a cynical way. So wording has to be thought out. If i read his responses cynically i hear "how dare you ruin my reputation by not contacting us first.". And " i know our products are great so you are wrong".

It is SO EASY TO LOOK GOOD IN THIS THREAD STEEDA. You did everything to look bad. Train your staff on customer service. Jeeze.
