Curious what the dealer said and what you ended up doing with respect to cats.
Wanted to update you on this. The first time I took it to the dealer the service advisor said I would have to take it to a Fprd Performance Dealer cause they weren't and couldn't do it.. I never went to a performance dealer as the closest one was not close and they wanted to keep it for a few days while they looked into it. So I just kept driving it and taking it easy on it. A few weeks ago I went back to my original dealer and spoke with a different service advisor and this time the guy was so helpful and said that he woukld cover the cats under warranty . I was so happy I mentioned it to him as I was only there for the recall. So I left it with him a couple of days later while I went to Texas to visit my son, came back and it was done. I was so happy I got the service advisor a $100 gift card to thank him. He saved me a couple of thousand dollars. Since then I ordered the Stainless Works long tubes and had them shipped to a friend of mines daughter who lives in a free state unlike me in Comifornia and will go there this weekend to pick them up. So needless to say a happy ending to my story. Thanks for your time. Merry Christmas!!

Let us know when you get the headers installed!

I plan on adding either a supercharger or twin turbos. I wanted to ask the knowledgeable some of the pros and cons?
Im mainly focused on how much HP addition the DH engine can handle before I significantly lower the life expectancy of the engine and secondarily whether the stock DH needs to be altered or are the upgraded engines parts in the DH good enough to add additional HP.

Watch this site because a supercharger should be on the way. There are no numbers but from the results with the GT, we might see near 1000 horse power out of the DH. The engine shouldn't need any modification other than on the top for the superchargers and probably fuel supply.
Any boost like that will reduce the life of the engine just as an unmodified engine will last longer if you don't push it hard. I plan on keeping mine stock as there is sufficient power for my wants and needs. The real question is if you have that much power, how much will you use it? Remember race engines tend to be used for a single race, maybe under 1,000 miles and then they are tore down and inspected before they are reused. Our engines will last longer but it depends on the user.

At 1000 horsepower, the rings do not expand until the gap is gone and then pop the skirts off the pistons?

What sort of fuel? You are not doing that on 93 octane, not with 12:1 compression.

You need bigger ring gaps and E85 (to keep the piston oil rings cooler) - which means tearing down the short block.

he didn't say he had 1000 HP. Also, he hasn't been back in a while but I want to know how he passes Cali smog with headers. From what I understand headers or no cats is an immediate fail.

Oooooh.

Well, then, Cali sucks. Guns and cars are my two favorite hobbies, and Cali attacks both of them . . . headers are really an automatic fail? I mean, no cats I understand, but headers?

Sorry to those who live there. I think it is otherwise an awesome state with great natural beauty.

I'm a little slow... but it seems to me that it you delete the cats, that will set a code, and most states AFAIK will fail you at inspection time.

I have a 24 DH premium and two months after buying it got the Whipple /Lethal Performance Stage 2 supercharger installed. Although I have not had it on a dyno it's said it puts out 875hp at the crank. I've hear of some people posting they get 800 RWHP from the same setup. I don't know. But whatever it is it's enough for me. It smokes the tires from 1st to 4th if you get on it hard. Only other mod was an X-pipe and a few carbon add-ons like the track pack wing and a carbon /LED stearing wheel and a few others. The only issue I have had unfortunately is I'm now getting a po430 code. Which means the catalyst below threshold efficiency bank 2. Meaning the catalytic converter is bad likely due to overheating because it's supercharger. Which sucks. I'm taking it to the dealership Saturday and will see if they can warranty it but not getting my hopes up as they didn't install it. If all else fails I will be ordering the Kooks long tube headers with the green cats. Living in Socal though means I have to send them to an out of California address which isn't a problem as I have friends in Arizona and my son in Texas and will drive there to pick it up. This is my first ever mustang and first ever supercharged car. And if you as me had I known a supercharger would cause the catalytic converters to go bad would I still have supercharged it. I'd have to say hell ya I would. The Dark Horse is insanely better with a Whipple supercharger. .

I was wondering the same on passing CA smog checks with the LTs as if your part doesn't have a CARB EO#, it would be a fail. No LTs that I know of have a CA CARB EO# as they require a relocation of stock cats. In CA, I believe most aftermarket cats are also now a no go.

In November I had to smog my 05 GTO which has JBA shorty headers that are legal and have a CARB EO#. This time they noted that there were aftermarket headers that were OK with CARB. last time I smogged it, the tech was busting my nuts over the JBAs even though they were 100% legal in CA. He eventually accepted that they were legit. That was with shorties that didn't stand out too badly, so with obvious LTs, there'd be questions, There's always the "special" shops I suppose...

The Skull & Crossbone Whipple Lid was a Lethal Performance Stage 2 package.
