Im curious if anyone can confirm or dispute this with facts like a video teardown or blueprinting the motors? This has me very curious as people have stated the only difference is the tuning in motor performance from GT to DH. I found this that specifically states the part numbers are different and that would lend credit to the upgraded or hardened internals ect. All comments and thoughts welcome. This is not a DH fanboy only post. Here is what ive found in searching so far.
The rumor that "it's just a regular GT engine with a factory tune" is factually false.
While internet forums frequently downplay the differences, physical teardowns of the Gen 4 Coyote engine and official Ford parts catalogs confirm that the actual physical metal components inside the engine are different. If you pull a camshaft or a connecting rod out of a Dark Horse, it has a completely different part number, physical geometry, and material makeup than the same part pulled out of a standard Mustang GT.
