Coyote Tick?

Hey Ya’ll,

Had my 2nd oil change done from Ford yesterday at 4,900 Miles. Came home from work today, backed in the garage and heard this “tick…. Tick…. Tick” when I opened my the door while it was running.

I’ve done some research on the “Coyote Tick” and it seems to be a “normal operating characteristic”.

Does this sound like the “Coyote tick”?

My apologies if this has been posted or discussed to death.

yep, that is the tick. mine is doing it now at 40K miles. not sure if i should take it in or not, some people say yes other say Ford says it is normal. My son's friend is a Ford Tech so I am going to ask him. Keep you updated.

Both my '18 and '21 had it. My '22 does not. Especially noticeable after an oil change. If you go over to the 6g forum you will find a ton of info. Basically, very common, some have it, some do not.

It's a good idea to notify your dealer and have them log it. Just in case it turns out to be not normal.

Stopped by the dealer after work and they confirmed it is the Coyote Tick.

Good to be documented as well.

Makes me feel better.

Discussed to death is the understatement of the centry.

As everyone eventually finds out, buy a bottle of Liquimoly Ceratec and dump it in after every oil change. It will remove the tick until you change the oil again. You're welcome.
