My 2024 Mustang GT has approximately 5000 miles on it. Driven a combo of city/highway - not dirt country roads. Just for interest's sake I looked at my two OEM factory engine air filters. They were very dirty - far too dirty to keep using. To be honest I was somewhat shocked. I went right over to a Ford dealer and bought two new ones and installed them today. I did not expect to see what I did. Just guessing - but maybe the closeness of the air induction snorkels in the front grille to the road and the exhaust of other vehicles accounts for more dirt/smog in the filters than when the intakes are in the engine bay - like my 2014. I know the idea behind the 2024's was to have cooler induction air which is fine - but I strongly advise members to check their engine filters far sooner than Ford suggests. I have had a lot of experience with aftermarket filters, particularly the "oiled" ones and will not use them. I have given the reasons for this before and do not want to bore members with repetition. I am on an email notification list for Corsa to contact me when they have their new see through air boxes and filters available to see if I like them. In the meantime I'm going to check my OEM engine air filters far sooner than I used to and than Ford recommends. BTW I know this has been discussed on many forums but I was surprised by the interior air stream controllers (for want of a better word) inside the air induction runners leading from the air boxes to the engine induction entrance ports. I can see why some owners have removed them but that's another topic too.

Sounds like the air filters are doing their job. I wouldn't feel very good if they looked clean at 15,000 miles.

I couldn't figure out why mine were so black after 6k km ~3700 miles, and then I remembered I did a couple burnouts. I was pretty sure I wasn't tailgating diesel trucks with no DPF.

@135Hoser ...... yes, mine were even a bit worse than that and I didn't do brake burns. By comparison my 2014 never got so dirty so fast. Now that I know it's no big deal - I'll just change them sooner.
