Wireless CarPlay always connects for me but… About 1 in 4 times when I drive my car, CarPlay connects and my music / audiobook / navigation apps launch just fine, but there is no sound.

I can see the progress bar on the song moving, etc. If I change the audio output on my iPhone 13 Pro to its own speakers, the audio plays through them.

Powering my phone down and forcing a reconnect sometimes works. The only reliable fix seems to be to reboot the infotainment system, I.e suck it up and listen to FM radio until I get to my destination.

If this has happened to anyone else and you’ve managed to fix it, I’d very much appreciate your advice!
This happens to me ALL the time. What I have found to work most of the time is to into settings on the iPhone, search for CarPlay, then turn CarPlay off and back on again. The car screen will show you disconnect, then will say the audio is off. Give it a few seconds and CarPlay will start up again, hopefully with sound this time. Sometimes I have to do it twice. So obnoxious

Yep...same behavior, same frustration. For whatever reason it seems to be worse if audio is already playing when it connects. I can sometimes go to Phones in settings - click the bluetooth option then click the CarPlay option and it starts working.

This is the way I've been going around the issue. Incredible that we have to deal with these work arounds.

I’m glad it’s not me. Wanted to go for a drive this evening, 1st 15 minutes into it trying to get it to play. Then the obnoxious voice saying it lost signal. What’s more aggravating is I can buy a $25 fm transmitter and has no problem connecting my phone to a 25 year old vehicle.

I get in on my mustang, turn it on, go to my Apple iPhone.
Make sure CarPlay is turned on.
Hit play & shuffle or scroll down to the song you wanna start with and it works right away..
When I first got the Mustang. I had to use the cable and I figured all my songs finally got loaded into the system and I no longer need a cable to my phone. I may be incorrect, but it works for me.
Apple IPhone 15 Pro Max.

I’m leaning more toward wireless instead of uploaded. As far as i known there isn’t a user storage/hard drive, and i as well may be incorrect.

There may be hope. Here's what my dealership said about the issue yesterday. Quoting my repair order: "FORD IS AWARE OF THIS CONCERN AND ARE DEVELOPING SOFTWARE TO CORRECT PLEASE CHECK AT YOUR NEXT SERVICE". Apparently it can affect Android as well as iOS devices, and may be an OTA fix.

Here's a service bulletin related to the issue: SSM 52574

I'm glad I saw this thread although I'm about a year too late. I dropped off my 2024 mustang gt about two weeks ago they see the problem they can't fix it so the dealership is having an engineer come in to figure out how to fix it. I'm going there tomorrow and showing this thread because they're just wasting their time. Also, my previous car on Acura TLX had the same thing same problem or very similar so it seems to be a similar system used in many different types of cars.

Also mine has an additional thing. One night I was driving, even after turning car off for few mins back on, it was still there: Both a specific channel on XM and my CarPlay would play at the same time!.

Dealership said today my problem is pretty serious. An outside engineer is coming in to try to figure it out. He suggested I just leave the car there (and not take it back). Prob b/c he was frustrated with the situation. Really good service though.. I have a good loaner (rental they pay for), hopefully upgrading that to an explorer. I
