Good Day All,

At 65 I'm a total newbie to the convertible experience and in the market for my reliving my muscle car days in retirement.

So management aka the wife says we have to get the space grey interior that looks kind of white, seen in person.

i live in Western Maine say about a 30 minute drive to Mt Washington in NH so I really don’t get the temps some of you do.

I'm hoping to take advantage of MY25’s on the lot to drive a decent deal being one MY old and the majority are black interiors.

Just looking for some real world experiences and thoughts.

Thanks

John
My '24 has the red seats with black trim, and I don't find they make much of a difference. Other than I get a lot of compliments! If you get the gray seats, they will be no worse than most other colors. As mentioned earlier, you can use the cooled seats, and that pretty much eliminates any issues. On very hot days or if you have to park in the sun, remote start the car, and the seats will be cooled when you get in.
My biggest warning to you is if you make long drives in strong sun, be careful you don't get sunburned. No matter the color of the seats. With a convertible, that is a real possibility. Whatever you choose, don't put the top up unless it is raining or snowing! Glenn

I believe yours are called Carmine Red if memory serves me well.

So we test drove a new on the lot MY24 GT with a BLK interior and as management was driving I noticed the COOL SEAT function and this changes things.

Yes, it does! I was driving at night to my Mustang club meeting at the beginning of October (?), it was about 55°. I had the top down, and about halfway to the meeting, I had to pull over and change the seats from cooling to heat! I was so cold I was shaking. The opposite of what you are concerned with, but trust me, the A/C-cooled seats work great. I turned them to cool at the end of March and back to heat in October! My butt was cool all summer! I like the look of the space gray but black/dark interiors are better at hiding dirt, stains, imperfections. I'm in the hot Maryland summers and have never had any big issue with the black seats being too hot. I suppose if you park it outside in direct sun with the top down on a 90 degree day the seats will cook. But with the top up I've never noticed an issue. I park in shade too so that helps.

Black interior is no problem. My 2020 had black. When out and about just put the top up when you for for a break. Mine had heated and cooled seats.

The black interior is no worse than any other color. Would I make a six-hour drive on a 95Ëš day doing 30 MPH? Probably not. I did make a trip to Canada that was 3 hours of rain and 4 hours of sun, but I was doing 70-80 MPH! I've owned two convertibles, and the interior color isn't an issue. There is no rule that says if the drive is too hot that you can't put the top up. I've pulled over into parking lots, the side of roads, at stop lights (it only takes 6 seconds). I've had my Mustang for 18 months, and these instances are few and far between. If you were on a boat, would you not use it because it was too hot? I used mine multiple times a week and didn't care about the sun! If you are driving for 30 min to an hour, or more, I would wear a hat and use SPF50. Actually, I am lying! I almost never use sunscreen! Glenn

I liked your post, but how about those who own a black car with a black interior tell us how easy it is to keep clean! Do you have limited visibility issues? Glenn

My first car had a black interior. Fifteen months stationed in the Arizona desert convinced me to never get a black interior again.

Greeting from a retired New Englander living in Florida waiting for my Vert and I did buy the Space Grey based on the heat here were we live now. Both of my first cars I bought was when I lived in Massachusetts, a 1968 Buick GS400 and a 1969 Yenko Camaro, both no air and solid black interior, got little hot during summer, but we rolled down windows and after about five minutes it was cool. HOWEVER in todays world, A/C is a necessity, and does cool down quick but where you live. Well, OK living up past Mt Washington, you probably have about one maybe two months of almost 90 degree weather, and really not much humidity. Heck you really don't need an air conditioner at all up there. Grew up near Salem, Mass and we never had a car with A/C we used the windows. So, the issue is more of this for you, Happy Wife and Happy Life.... I personally think the two tone looks much better than the single black color. Trim is much more then center of seat, trim is carried through the door panels. Getting the darker read it will look really nice with the Space Grey. IMHO....

I'm 62 and got my first ever convertible in June - welcome to the club. Race red with the black interior (bough off the lot). We had a hot, sunny summer. Couldn't have asked for better weather. I was amazed on how the black seats didn't get nearly as hot as I thought they would in the sun. Easy to maintain and live with. The two tone interiors do look VERY nice. Enjoy!
Your in CANADA, come down to FLorida in August and then tell me the seats aren't that bad, you will fry you butt off.

Once I was in Florida for about 10 days in August, and I would call the valet and tell him to get my car and leave it running. The heat was horrendous! Glenn

Yup it is, that is why you learn to do things before 11 AM and after 6 PM.. But I love living here. Convertibles, you can tell tourists, they have the top down during the heat of the day, as they say Mad Dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid day sun.....
