You will definitely exceed 24 MPG. I have the manual with the 3.73, and when I get on the highway in 6th gear right after a refill, I'm approaching 24 once I'm up to speed.

When you're not hammering the throttle in these cars, they're surprisingly efficient. But, as mentioned, that's not why we bought them.
That's impressive mileage for a 3:73 rear end. I'm leaving for home in the morning and plan to just set the cruise control and listen to music if the idiots and 18 wheelers going up hills in the inside lane will let me. Will report mpg back.

Don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying hybrids aren’t any good i’m just saying because you call it something different doesn’t automatically mean the ā€˜problem’ is resolved. For the most part the majority of hybrids aren’t true ā€˜hybrids’ but rather ā€˜dual powered’.
By definition hybrid means dual powered - not sure what point you are trying to make? They run with a mixture of ICE and electric power pretty much all of the time, I know this because I drive one on occasions and it shows the power split being used, it is very rarely ICE only.

Both of those videos pointed out the problems and how they are resolved. Of course engines wear out over time but with correct design it is not going to influence the life of the vehicle. The evidence is clear in the case of the Prius with mileages of 250k+ commonplace.

And my sil (son-in-law) has currently over 350k+ miles in his pure ice fusion.

Great, just shows in most cases the engine isn't the reason a car is scrapped whatever the format. Same here in the UK where engine 'wear' is rarely a cause for failure these days, far more likely an ancillary failure or something unrelated to the engine at all.

A zonkey is a hybrid, dual powered is simply two working in fellowship (all the fellows in the ship rowing the same direction).

Not what the dictionary says

  • a car with a petrol engine and an electric motor, each of which can propel it.
    noun:
    hybrid car

A hybrid vehicle is one that uses two or more distinct types of power, such as submarines that use diesel when surfaced and batteries when submerged.

The application is a hybrid of the standard but a zonkey is truly a hybrid (one part cannot be removed from the other without destruction of the whole).

Not sure the point you are trying to make - the definition is well understood and has been for 30 years. Not sure why you are trying to change it or are you just arguing with yourself now?

Setting aside the fact that a spark is electricity, combustion does not cause the magnetic attraction/repulsion associated with an electric motor nor does electricity drive combustion in the engine. Simply adding a secondary method and changing how it is used does not specifically make it a ā€˜hybrid’ and even when used in a hybrid manner the mitigation of the stop start wear and tear is an added complexity that not only increases maintenance requirements but also increases the added expense for more robust parts and yet the average lifespan is not dramatically increased. But otherwise i guess we can start the process of stopping the discussion of hybrids.

There is no discussion - you are just rambling to yourself making things up as you go along.

The world doesn't need you to redefine anything it is just fine with what we have.

No, it isn't good for cars. You can read in thousands of places that the most wear in an engine occurs at start up. And, no, in my opinion, it doesn't improve gas mileage. I think car makers are desperate to meet EPA CAFE standards, thus this dumb feature.

I'm just used to starting my car and immediately hitting the start/stop delete button right next to the start button. Start/stop has to be the most asinine features to ever be put in a car.

BTW, I have a lifetime car average of 20.2 mpg. I've never re-set "Trip 2" since I got the car 3700 miles ago so it includes all kinds of driving. I don't think 20.2 is bad at all and my car isn't babied. It's seen it's share of speed and hard pedal pushing. FWIW. FD

Interesting MPG figures. I'm at 3952 miles (never reset) on Trip 2 with 14.1 MPG. Mine sees far more stop and go traffic than highway and I always disable Start/Stop as it's programmed on my Custom mode to shut that useless and annoying feature off.
