I do hear you, but the point wasn't that there should be a specific timeline that this gets solved. The point was that Ford is choosing to alienate a dedicated portion of their customer base by lockign it before it even
no problem. I tripped over the ‘meh good enough’. Ever since that little tiny software company made it socially acceptable to reboot to resolve instead of investigate to discover revise to resolve and kids just stand there waiting for the microwave to finish while doom scrolling - it’s taking too long to prep that snack. (Why does two minutes take so long) we end up with ‘meh, good enough’ just lock the computers that have become not only integrated but required, we’ll (who is the they) figure it out later.

Edit: had to fix the socially typo

Hey, looks like I really hit a nerve with what was meant to be a funny parody of several other uses of the same coined phrase. It's okay - I'm in my mid 50's; there's nothing you complained about that I don't relate with.
As for your question - I will have to claim ignorance, as this is also my first Mustang. I've been a German car guy for decades. I was actually out shopping for a new AMG E or S series when I caught this car out of the corner of my eye on the lot. I have, however, been raised among racers and mechanics and so I was kind of excited to try my hands at tuning a GT to the max. I'm pretty sure they'll get into the software eventually, but it made me think - had I known, I would NOT have purchased the Mustang, and I would have missed out on a really cool car and driving experience. The executive in me wants to slap the leadership at Ford across the head - in a diminishing market, you don't alienate your #1 loyal fan-base. It's just enough to think they must have idiots in charge.
Anway, sorry for getting you all spun up with poking a little fun. Not my intention to diminish anyone's experience here. Or in their Mustang. I just want what's mine to be mine, and not need some permission slip from a bean counter in Dearborn.
Mid-60’s years old here…the wife and I consider the heated seats our mobile heating pads😜 and use them year round no matter the outside temperature. I do appreciate your reply and clarification, I did miss your humor.
My biggest complaint with auto manufacturers is their bundle pricing to increase their profits which of course raises consumer prices. I would be perfectly happy with a Corvette 1LT interior but had to spend at least an additional $8k for a single desired low cost option.

No such thing as good bourbon.

The only whisky worth drinking comes from Scotland, and it better be single malt and better be served neat. It better come from the Islay or Speyside regions, too - although I'll make exceptions for the other three (I don't consider Islands a region, as they are part of the Highland region).

Oops. Off topic. Sorry.
Because most of the good scotch gets aged in a retired bourbon cask

off topic…. That was pretty funny right there. Some serious spiraling going on in here.

Me and @roadpilot got something in common…

Islay 💯, probably because it’s what i
GotInto 1st, but my cabinet is lagavulin 8, 16, Ardbeg corryvrecken, and Laphroaig quarter cask.

My friends have no true appreciation for Scotch, so I just don’t share.
Lagavulin 16 is my current #1 fav. Got a fifth of the Coryvrecken from a supplier this past Christmas - good stuff, too. Laphroaig should be in every scotch drinker's bar selection.

Sorry, something about Lagavulin just sets me off. I can understand why some people like it, but to me it tastes more like medicine. Maybe I had a bad bottle?

I've been lucky enough to have had a glass of Macallan 18 which was very good (never had the 25), but I once stumbled across 2 bottles of cask strength William Larue Weller Bourbon on the shelf of my local store about 10-15 years ago for 130 ish USD each (same bottle would cost me 10x that today) and that was REALLY good. I should never have given one of the bottles to my brother. He was "saving it" and it got emptied at a party his daughter threw when he and my sister in-law were out of town and her friends got into the "good stuff" cabinet.

My wife describes the Lagavulin 16 as smelling/tasting like gauze. TBH, that's part of the reason I like it so much! LOL! I keep a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue on hand at all times ($230-250 per fifth in MI), but $100 for a fifth of Lagavulin 16 is a far superior deal AND I like it better!

Mustang <- Back on topic.

I hope the daughter and her friends actually knew and appreciated what they were drinking. I would’ve been beside myself on that one.

Does any underage drinker do that? Just glad no one died or ended up in the hospital from guzzling 120+ proof hooch.

That said, let's get back to the mustang
Other than fix the uncertainty that's been popping up recently, what else could Ford do to improve Mustang sales.

Does a BMW price tag mean that it needs BMW build quality, because let's face it, Ford's been having problems.

What parts of the Mustang could Ford work to improve? Not including subjective things like "sound". For instance could the Mustang get closer to the 50/50 weight balance?

What are the biggest drivers of people choosing other vehicles? Is it a shrinking performance gap? Something else?

Would the Mustang be better off as a 2 seater more like the Supra, maybe with an Ecoboost engine turned for a broad torque band and either rear or AWD?

Not saying the mustang has to change, but I am just wondering if it SHOULD...

I’m really intrigued that of all the off topic directions this thread has taken you chose mine to make your point. Of course I too hope that there were no dire consequences for this group of young people’s actions. I have a dry sense of humor that could be taken as a cavalier attitude of indifference. I can assure that if my children had pulled that stunt in my house there would have been serious consequences. I too was young once and made numerous stupid decisions and by the grace of God matured enough to grow out of them. By your tone of superiority I would assume that you’ve lived a stellar mistake free life.
I don’t know if you have read every single post in this thread but I can assure you that pretty much every possible reason for the Mustang having decreased sales numbers has been covered with many making valid points. My best guess is that the cause is a compilation of many of the previously stated reasons. The comments I’ve read seem to have a common theme that most Mustang owners want the car to have a future that stays true to the original concepts and design.

Sorry, I did not intend any "tone of superiority" and if any was felt, then I apologize.

I didn't take your comment as anything but humor, I was responding with my own dark humor and it looks like I failed. Not my kid, not my problem. I was obviously concerned, but I am not going to be anything but the Uncle they can run to for advice, help, or even to enjoy the day. Punishment is the parents job and I learned early on that uncles stay out of that business.

As for "Stellar free life" No, but my father was "functional" alcoholic that got passed out drunk every night after work and early on the weekends. My brother was found unconscious in his dorm his freshman year from alcohol poisoning, and my roommate would get sick every weekend so I had the lovely odor of alcohol induced vomit to wake up every Sat and Sun.. Kinda made me take overconsumption of booze seriously.

Yes, I do consume, but very little (one a night, once every 2-3 weeks) and I never drive after I have because I've been that kid that had to go into the store with a drunk driver behind the wheel. I preferred to brew my own and the give away the vast majority because life is too short, relax and have a homebrew.

No, the reason I choose yours was because it was just the last one I found funny and people were complaining.

I agree, it probably has been discussed to death, but one thing about people who love cars, be it in general, or mustangs in particular, is they all like to talk about them.

Ford does need to up their quality game. You can't charge like a luxury brand and deliver economy brand build quality.

Thank you for clarifying your comments. I apologize for reacting like a Richard Cranium to your reply. After reading them, we appear to have similar outlooks on life in general. My alcohol consumption is very light…. mostly a few shots of bourbon on a weekend evening while the grill is working its magic and the occasional business related dinner outing. While my parents were teetotalers, alcoholism has hit close to home in my life with other family members and friends. I do have empathy for what you endured as you were growing up. I’m less than a year into the Mustang world and can certainly understand the angst among the Mustang faithful over the future of this iconic model. I have my own fears about the future of V-8 ICE vehicles which is why in the last couple of years I’ve purchased both a C8 and a Mustang GT. I plan to drive them both until my driving days come to a close. I also hope you have many miles and smiles ahead of you.
