Acoustic Windshield

In July 2023 I test drove a 2024 Ecoboost. The windshield said acoustic glass. On my 2024 Ecoboost which I took delivery of in the beginning of March 2024 does not have a windshield stating acoustic glass. My 2018 had an acoustic windshield. Can someone shed some light on this?

I don't think any of the 2024 Mustangs have an acoustic windshield. Other Ford vehicles like the Maverick Lariat and Mach-E used to offer that option. Check the bottom corner of the passenger side windshield, it will say "SoundScreen" if the Ford vehicle is equipped with an acoustic glass windshield.

That's it, "SoundScreen". The 2024 EcoBoost I test drove in July 2023 had that printed on the windshield. My 2018 had it, but the 2024 I just got does not. C'est la vie.

It may be only the Premium High cars that have the acoustic windshield, 201A, 401A, etc. Anybody on here with a 200A or 400A car that can check to see if they have the "Soundscreen" windshield?

I am quite certain the EcoBoost I test drove was a base model, it had it. Another thing I recall is the engine sound was less than the one I just got. It leads me to believe mid cycle changes and with the windshield supply issues. Also, on the Ford website the SoundScreen windshield is not noted on any of models; it was a feature on all 2018 models.

May I ask when your car was built/bought?

Some clarity on the windshield issue. I just saw premium and base models at my dealer. The premiums ONLY were equipped with "SoundShield". But in Ford's literature online it does not mention this kind of windshield on any of the models.

The web page references dB readings before and after. Every 3dB decrease in sound is a reduction in energy by half. If there is a 9 dB reduction, that is a loss of half, half and half again (1/8th the original level).

I can confirm there are different windshields based on your model. I had to replace mine(rock) and the dealership needed my VIN to ensure I got the correct glass.

2024 EcoBoost Premium Convertible 201A. Built in November 2023. Found on driver's side, just above the VIN. I was surprised to find this on a convertible.

Confirmed on a '24 GT PP 401A. I don't get the logic on a convertible, unless they just want to be able to charge more for it.
