I think so. I can't remember anything off colour in the movie, although the book faced criticism about a sex scene
It looks like an unjustified accusation of molestation after an underage girl tries to force herself on the main character. Parents in one school got upset about their 10th graders reading the book, and the school stopped it.

Stein says he respects the rights of parents to raise concerns about potentially objectionable content. But he’s concerned the parents in Texas didn’t actually read the whole book.
“I think that somebody pulled out a passage and said look at this and then they passed it around and a bunch of people signed their names to it,” he says.

I'll check out the movie further, as my kids are younger than that, but I appreciate your response. My interest was piqued by nothing more than, "They like dogs, and my son likes cars, so . . ." I thought it was available on my Hulu streaming plan, but it's not . . . lol

The transmission finally started complaining — 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are all slipping — but warranty’s covering it, so it’s already at the dealer getting a new one.
10R80? That scares me about the longevity of these transmissions, especially if one has fun with the car

Year younger than you with the same outlook as you. Wife and I plan a lot of trips down here in the Southeast. Our car's build date is 28 April with delivery late May. First trip being planned, trip to Key West. Got Race Red, Space Gray interior. We are very excited, and counting the days. Sold my C7 Corvette Stingray Convertible three years ago, and we miss a convertible so much, and the sound of the engine.....top down, sun out, nothing like it. Hope you the best. Maybe we will do the Route 66 Trip, just maybe, definitely the Route 10 trip to New Orleans. So much to see.....CHEERS

This is not in the movie.

They replaced this legal trouble with the father in law accusing the main character (well, the main human character) of battery for pushing him down.

It was fine for kids, 9 and 12, although they found it sad.
