Hi

I'm curious what others have done in terms of audio upgrades? I have the DH with the B&O system but still feel like its not loud enough for my taste. Looking for some inspirations..

Thanks

In near future I'm going to upgrade the stock 9 speaker system. I know that requires 2 parts that are just above $600...Maestro interface I believe and wire harness. Interface I believe replaces/bypasses stock amp so you can add another, so you free up some wattage for aftermarket one.

But sub and amp wise I did this and its just ridiculously loud: https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/4th-order-bandpass-sub-setup.171454/

I compete in IASCA Sound Quality and have a 26' Mustang that just got built yesterday. Should be here in a month I would guess. Needless to say, I'm WAY into car Audio (have been since 1990).

If you have the B&O, the first thing you need is a PAC Audio Amp Pro (the iDataLink Maestro doesn't work with the B&O, but will with the 9 speaker). This takes all of the time alignment, crossover points, all pass filters, etc out of the signal and created a flat frequency response.

From there you can run 3 sets of preamp cables or the Toslink output to your new DSP or amp with built in DSP. I run both analog and the digital signal and create different presets.

This is my Durango Hellcat:

Not loud enough? It's just not good enough. You probably want a complete make over, but here's what I did given this system:
1. Replace the sub-woofer with a Pioneer TS-A250SDA 10 inch. I'm told it really can't support anything much stronger.
2. Replace both door mid-woofers with Focal 165AS.

You'll get limited returns from replacing the tweeters, mid-range, or rear parcel shelf speakers.

I owned a 9 speaker car system, too, Replacing anything other than the door mid-bass is a waste of money because the amp can't drive them.

Did you notice any significant difference considering the amount of worked put into replacing those speakers?

Absolutely. The sub alone is critical. The Focal add punch. I'm still disappointed in Ford in that you pay all that money for what amounts to an "upgradable system". The last generation Chargers and Challengers got it right. These have larger door speakers for starters.

You must be very young because it sounds a lot enough to me.
I have a 2024 GT 401-A with the 12 speakers.
I used to spend extra money for speakers and all that stuff when I was younger.
And then you trade your car off and all the money is gone. It’s not worth it to me anymore.
I use the Apple CarPlay and all my music is Apple and I don’t see any benefit to turn the volume up & blow the speakers out.
I just turned 78 and I have hearing aids from the VA due to the 175’s & 8in in Pleiku Vietnam.
So, maybe I can’t tell any difference?

The amps are really hit and miss too. I've driven several B&O Mustangs now and the max volume was different in almost every one.

You just take all the gear out and put it back to stock. You don't leave thousands of dollars in Audio equipment in the car when you trade it in.

I replaced the sub with a Pioneer 10" and replaced the center speaker.

The stock sub is awful but the new sub, though still has ZERO punch, for some reason allowed the other speakers to come through better. The door subs do all the heavy lifting.

I think the stock sub was so bad it had a resonance that washed out the other speakers. The sub line itself is severely underpowered.

My 06 GT had a much better sound system with the 1,000W Shaker option. And that included me pulling the Shaker sub out because it was awful dead weight behind the rear tire. Made the car handle like crap.

I agree with you completely.
Back in the old days, it’s just easy enough to leave everything in because everything gets outdated pretty quick.
