2024 Mustang GT – Driver-Side Headlight Turns On By Itself After Car Is Shut Off

I’m having a recurring issue with my 2024 Mustang GT and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

The driver-side/left low beam randomly turns on by itself after the car is shut off and locked. This first happened back in June. I took it to Ford, and they found DTC B1D00:62 stored in the LDCMA (Lighting Driver Control Module A). According to the repair order, they performed PMI/reprogramming of the headlamp-mounted LDCMA, cleared the codes, and the issue went away.

Now, a few months later, the exact same problem has returned.
This time it happened after it had been raining. The car was parked and locked, but the driver-side headlight kept turning on by itself intermittently for several hours. Unlocking and locking the car would sometimes make it go away temporarily, but it would come back again. The problem continued until around 4 AM, and by the morning the headlight was off and everything appeared normal again.


I also currently have an open Engine Harness Ground Eyelet Replacement recall on the car, so I’m wondering if an intermittent ground, moisture/water intrusion, LDCMA issue, or wiring/connector problem could be causing this.


Has anyone else with an S650 Mustang had:

• One headlight turn on by itself while the car is off/locked?
• B1D00:62 or other LDCMA/LDCMB codes?
• A similar issue after rain or washing the car?
• A dealer replace the LDCMA/headlight module instead of just reprogramming it?

Any similar experiences or fixes would be appreciated.

This could be related to the BCM recall Ford issued last year for a number of 2024 & 2025 model year Mustangs. Essentially, water can intrude into the module and cause malfunctions on (among other things) various lighting systems on the vehicle. It's not outside the realm of possibility that lights can fail to illuminate (or likewise activate in unexpected ways) given the nature of the problem.

Going off the photo you shared, plus your question on occurence in rain or car washes, it's conceivable that this defect (assuming it has not yet been addressed) could be the source of the problem on your Mustang. Specifically because it appears that the observed symptom is occuring in the rain, and the recall explicitly details water intrusion as a consequence of the defect.

Worth checking to see if your specific Mustang is included in the recall - grab your VIN and head over to the official National Highway & Traffic Safety Administration website and plug that VIN in:

• https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

Even if the recall issue is not the source of the problem, this behavior is most certainly not by design and should be fixable one way or the other.

Your best move would be to consult with the Service Department at your preferred dealer; the fix for this issue should be available via the recall or standard warranty, and your service advisor is in the best position to prescribe next steps.

Has Ford attempted to inspect the pigtail connector for the headlight? I have my car in the dealer right now since I had an identical issue.
I had washed my car on a Friday, on Saturday both my lights were bugging out turning on and off. Then on Monday both my headlights would not turn off and my turn signals did not function. Only thing that kept working were the high beams.

I checked Forscan for codes and both my LDCMA/B gave an error stating no communication with the HCM and they were listed as ERROR.

Could be an issue with a connector?

Additionally I had the BCM checked out but nothing had gotten damaged or corroded there. Thankfully I’m covered by Warranty.
