I’m trying to keep the engine temps down on racing. We’re just the 170° thermostat do any good or we throw off the tune and everything I know computers are set up and run hot from the factory. I’m worried about doing some runs overheating the number eight and seven cylinder.

You're likely going to be at 190-something and the temps will only go up when you floor it

Thermostat alone might bring you down a couple degrees in general but won't really help the car when it's over 170. You need things like a radiator, vented hood, etc

Have someone real tune it. I turn the fans on much faster and at 180 not 212 like stock is set. And whipple doesnt change that either in their tunes.

From the whipple tune.

My tuner is installing a Whipple on my '25 DH. I'm going with the twin electric fans and the Bosch high flow coolant pump for the Whipple heat exchanger. He said that he sees very little difference in the intake charge temp with a thermostat change. I see this as insurance.

What type of racing?

What are the conditions?

What temperatures are you seeing right now?

What modifications have you made to your engine for performance or cooling up until now?

I see you have a 2024 GT. Does it have the Performance Package?

stage one Whipple Ford racing, bone it’ stock 2024 non-Performance package A-10 315 gear. Drove 100 hundred miles to the track. Track temp was around 78° in the shad, Southern California, San Diego, weather,.small cool down made a pass IT was around 212 degrees cylinder head.has looking at 2:10 oil 225. It took over an hour sitting in the pits to cool this damn thing down.
Stock tires stock everything I got the 60 foot down into the 1.8sor 1.9s I believe.
Pump 91.

Oh, none of those temperatures are any problem at all. Those are well within what would be expected for CHT and oil.

Drag racing just is not that rough on temperatures and cooling needs, since it is only a quarter mile.

If you really want to cool down the oil, add the oil cooler from the Dark Horse. I believe Ford sells it as a kit. Or, for better performance, add the largest Setrab oil cooler, which is more than 69,000 btu/hr (more than, because the spec is not listed, and the next smaller one is 69,000 btu).

Dropping the CHT is as simple as leaving the track and driving at highway speeds, easily, just cruising, low rpm, for a few minutes, then returning.

That's a good 60 foot for stock tires! I am curious what the e.t. and mph were using 91 octane?
