At the risk of sounding 30 years older than I actually am,
brother,
the honk of triple webers on an XKE is probably one of the best noises I've ever heard. This is followed with a close second of double webers on a V4.
So so so good.
If you look at its additive package, it's got a shit load of detergents while skimping on the actual anti-wear additives. Theres no need for the detergents to be as high ppm as they are, its overkill for a brand new car.
Now, if you stuck it in a sludgy 20 yr old motor, you'd absolutely see it...
I dare you to drive on I95, Taconic pky, I90, or any other major highway at the speed limit.
It is outright dangerous.
In much of the country, speed limits were last raised when drum brakes and bias-ply's were still common on a majority of cars. doing 55 on a three-lane wide highway is...
Directly from a Tribologist: 0W-20 is " the beginning of the microweight range" for motor oils
"0W20 was for fuel economy. Cheap, fast, good…. Yadda yadda. A German engineering solution to,an American problem. Where have we seen that fail before?"
"While modern machining tolerances do allow...
This is the hard to swallow truth.
My 30 year old Honda also has a 16 gal tank and asks for 93. Its sort of expected with high compression motors. It ain't the 70's anymore
I'd sooner run a lighter weight than run less.
Theres only two ways this makes sense in my eyes.
1. You have less oil passing through the pump, leading to worse protection and increased wear
2. The oil was hitting the crankshaft, causing cavitation, which is a wholly different problem anyway...
As would I.
I spent a considerable amount of time discussing this with my sales person, as it was a genuine concern.
I probably should've gotten it in writing before getting a build order, honestly.
