  1. Would You Consider a Smaller Foxbody Inspired Mustang?

You could also look at the GR86, which is selling well and is smaller than the Camaro. A lot smaller. I think the Camaro did poorly due to poor looks and a poor design. Can't see out of it. Can't fit much in the trunk. Can't fit a large beverage through the mail slot windows. But hey, the...
  2. Would You Consider a Smaller Foxbody Inspired Mustang?

It's fine for a winter car and daily driver that spends most of its time in traffic. It will break my snow tires loose at 45 mph on a freeway on-ramp, even with relatively warm temperatures and no salt on the roads. Would I prefer more power? Yes, yes I would. But I would also prefer more...
  3. Would You Consider a Smaller Foxbody Inspired Mustang?

I would buy a small, light weight, rear wheel drive, manual transmission car. 100%. I don't like the Toyota or Subaru brands, but I bought the GR86 because that's the only reasonably priced car on the market that meets those requirements. I traded my FiST for it. I did like the FiST a lot...
  4. Thoughts on the Dark Horse Name

Yes I agree and understand that the PP GT isn't set up to perform well on the road course. IMO it should have been. I've heard that the next gen Mustang might also have stiffer suspension in it, to which I say, "about time!" I have FP track handling kit on my 2017 GT PP1, and that suspension...
  5. Thoughts on the Dark Horse Name

Yes DH is a replacement for the Mach 1, which made 480 hp I believe. And I think that was 20 HP more than the standard GT. I believe they are saying 500 for the DH, which is Mach 1 +20 HP. Yes I'm sure the DH will give a GT350 a run for its money on a road course. My opinion is that it...
  6. Thoughts on the Dark Horse Name

I think the Dark Horse is a poor choice for a name. The Dark Horse should have been called Mustang GT. But Ford had to slap a "special" name on it and overcharge for it. They should save Dark Horse or some other oddball names for cars that have more of a performance differentiation from the...
  7. Mach 1/Dark Horse sightings

I have seen a couple Mach 1s in my neighborhood. I also see some GT350s occasionally. It's rare to even see an EB Mustang around here, though. It seems as though there are fewer and fewer Mustangs purchased in my state. I doubt I will see very many 24+ Mustangs, which makes me sad. I really...
  8. Are you happy they switched to a steel oil pan?

I prefer metal over plastic. I think plastic is great if you trade your car every few years, but plastic and heat don't like each other. Over time my assumption is that the plastic won't hold up that well. But I would also prefer aluminum over steel, since steel will rust.
  9. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

Really good post and I'd like to discuss. These first things you mention make me think about the GT350. I loved how that car really wanted to turn. The dead zone was very small, the car would respond and turn really quickly, and you could feel imperfections in the road. The EPAS was not set...
  10. Ezra Dyer: Mustang Is a Vibe.... It's an Attitude, Not a Format.

Yes, that's really good. Only the two Teslas in front of it, and Tesla is by far the leader in EVs.
  11. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

The thing about steering feel as I understand it is you feel through the wheel when the tires are losing grip. So it doesn't really apply to driving around on the street. Possibly with really good feel you can notice a difference as the front end becomes more loaded due to cornering forces...
  12. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

My wife just bought a Bronco sport. It has the ipad stuck on the dash look with the center screen. We both like it. I prefer having the screen be a separate entity rather than raising the entire dash up around the screen and having a massive dash surrounding the screen and blocking my view...
  13. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

The general consensus is that older cars with hydraulic steering could have good feel. And there were a number of cars that did have good feel. Porsches and BMWs commonly are the brands that I've heard reviewers rave about the most. I don't know if I've ever heard about the Miata having good...
  14. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

Exactly. There is a direct connection steering wheel to wheels and turning the steering wheel makes the front wheels turn. Repeatably and accurately. There isn't much else to complain about with regards to the steering in my opinion. The wheels turn properly. The only other thing someone...
  15. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

I think the S550 steering is pretty good for electronic steering. The tires and wheels definitely turn in direct proportion to the amount the steering wheel is turned. The biggest issue I see is that the suspension is overly soft on a heavy and powerful car with a relatively high center of...
  16. Ezra Dyer: Mustang Is a Vibe.... It's an Attitude, Not a Format.

The Mach E isn't in the same segment as the Mustang. I do agree the Mustang's segment is declining. The Mach E's segment is forcibly being expanded, so that's relatively safe territory. And 4 door SUVs are selling well currently. It's not like the two cars share any of the same parts, so...
  17. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

You used the Camaro as a measuring stick for handling and said the Mustang had to beat it. Duh. If you hated the Camaro, there is no reason to want the Mustang to beat it. You already think the Mustang is better. If you think the Mustang needs to improve to match up with Camaro, you like...
  18. Chief Engineer of S650 Mustang talks Coyote, EcoBoost, Dark Horse Upgrades

You can dis the GT350 if you want. That's fine. Doesn't bother me, and I'm sure all the reviewers that said it was the best don't care what you say either. I have driven a lot of miles in a GT350 and I understand exactly how it compares.
  19. Chief Engineer of S650 Mustang talks Coyote, EcoBoost, Dark Horse Upgrades

Interesting speculation. I think the GT350 was extended because it won almost every award available. It was wildly successful and popular beyond anything they probably expected. It was so amazing that it took until winter 2019 - a full 4 years after initial release - before you could find one...
  20. S650 steering and handling is night and day difference compared to S550 Mustang says Chief Engineer Ed Krenz

If you don't like better handling why do you care whether the base Mustang handles better than a Camaro? I do agree with you that it would be nice to get better handling for your money on the base Mustang, but probably if Ford put better equipment on the car they would charge more. So unless...
