  1. What Radar Detecter Do You Use?

Waze is great. Working in conjunction with my detector it saved me many times on a recent trip where I swear the cops were being paid per ticket.
  2. What Radar Detecter Do You Use?

I couldn't disagree more. For example, a Police radar on Ka band may transmit on any frequency between 33.4 and 36 GHz, my V1 will detect anything within that band so close to instantly that you can't tell there's any delay. What is dangerous is the use of Instant on radar. With this there is no...

Also "rabbits". As in "show the dog the rabbit".
  4. S650 Brakes

    Thanks. That's what I thought.
  5. S650 Brakes

It does matter in the real world. If you can stop with less pedal pressure you'll be able to modulate the brakes more effectively. Braking at the point of ABS intervention is more effective than just stomping on the pedal. Even though ABS is modulating fluid pressure, the applying and releasing...
  6. What Radar Detecter Do You Use?

Me? Because I drive at a speed that I consider safe. The Police may have a different opinion. I use detectors to avoid that discussion. And, the Government once considered that I had sufficient judgement and ability that I could drive at whatever speed I saw fit to do my job.😆
  7. S650 Brakes

They have the same brakes though? The DH has wider wheels and tyres to make better use of the brakes.
  8. S650 vs RZ34 (Nissan Z)

Put the Miata or 86 on a twisty road and they're anything but nannymobiles. They just not sprinters.
  9. VW Golf GTI, Golf R

I had a Seat Leon Cupra, that's a Golf GTi clone with the Golf R engine. It did 0 - 100kmh in 5.7 and was limited to 250kmh. It easily stayed with an LS3 Commodore up to 210 kmh, then we both got sensible. It was a fantastic twisty road weapontoo. I sometimes wish I had kept it.
  10. What Radar Detecter Do You Use?

I've used V1's since '95, currently have 2 Gen 2's. The Gen 1's were good, but were getting behind in range on Ka band compred to other brands. But the Gen 2 is a knock out. There's no way Mk 1 eyeballs can detect bursts of instant on radar at 5 kms. I always get an alert before the cop is...
  11. S650 Brakes

Larger diameter discs increase leverage, the 6 pot caliper set up increases pad pressure over a larger pad area. All these things help you stop quicker with less pedal pressure and better feel. Then stickier/wider tyres resist lock up and triggering the ABS. More weight over the front wheels...
  12. Wanting to buy a new Mustang, want to hear others opinions.

Thanks to the Govt doing away with proper apprenticeships, and every poor bloody secondary school kid being told they need a degree, there's a shortge of tradies here in NZ. So demand has sent their wages through the roof. Around $100 an hour for a fully qualified mechanic or sparkie, and more...
  13. Coyote F150s faster than the mustangs?

Until you get to a corner.😬
  14. Wanting to buy a new Mustang, want to hear others opinions.

Pretty much my thinking minus the mods. I'm off the depreciation water slide, and I'm going to keep mine for the foreseeable future. Here in NZ it has a lot more presence/performance per buck than anything else. Germans are common, Jap cars are a no no for me. (see the depreciation comment for...
  15. PREMIUM-VS-REGULAR GAS FOR 2024 GT??

Ethanol works much like the water/methanol injection I built for my supercharged MX5. As I understand it, alcohol has much greater latent heat of evaproration than petrol, so it has a much greater cooling effect in the intake system downstream of the injector and in the combustion chamber...
  16. Oil change discovery

A trusted Tech is to a man is what a trusted hairdresser is to a woman. She'll ditch a husband, but never a hairdresser.
  17. PREMIUM-VS-REGULAR GAS FOR 2024 GT??

I did the first road trip in mine when it was at 600kms I refuelled twice with 98 (93US) and once with 95 (91US). Driving reasonably gently consumption was the same at 10.7 L/100km (22mpgUS) I haven't noticed any difference since then, apart from saving 20-30 cents per litre. But I still use...
  18. 2026 FX Package revealed in new Adriatic Blue Metallic color

Love the colour, nothing else. If I get another Mustang, I want that or Vapour Blue. Can't have two in a row of the same colour. That don't impress the neighbours much.
  19. S650 Tuning Info

OK. It'd be a boring world if we all thought the same.
