making OEM-style icons for the buttons now. it looks like Ford usually constrains icons to a 10x10mm domain, and uses 0.5mm strokes, really only doing outlines. sometimes they fill things in too. here is my attempt at a trunk release icon. made using Inkscape.
factory trunk release icon for...
if you are just looking for a front and rear camera, not crazily priced or anything, check out the Viofo A229 Plus or Pro. they are both currently on sale on Amazon for 20% off. the A229 Plus records 2k front and rear. the A229 Pro records 4k front and 2k rear. both use front and rear Sony...
i did some estimating and it turns out that 5 buttons is easy mode. i can fit up to 7, so i will be doing 7 instead, bringing the total button count to use how i want to 19
i ordered the parts. Bronco headlamp switch and the five buttons should be here in a week. the F-150 headlamp switch is on backorder, so no ETA on that
here is the IPMA camera.
here is the interior ambient air temperature sensor. according to Ford:
"The in-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor is an input to the HVAC control module. The in-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor contains a thermistor and a sensing element which separately...
i have decided to go all-out on the extra buttons thing. i will be doing an overhead sunglasses holder delete as well so i can fit 5 of those double buttons from the F-series trucks.
i got the ones without the "ON" text. this means i will have 15 total buttons to do whatever i want with
if the screwdriver is spinning in the screw, the clip is stripped out. if the head of the screw is also spinning, the clip may be internally broken, or there may be another way to assist it out
alright, here's some clarification. the camera facing out the windshield is the IPMA camera. the little black dot on top of the windshield facing in is an ambient air temperature sensor. the intrusion sensors are up in the overhead console near the overhead sunglasses holder or convertible top...
i think there is a way to disable it with FORScan, but it involves telling the vehicle certain seats either do not have seat belts or do not exist. this change has a chance of making the seat belt pretensioners and seat airbags not deploy in an accident, though
looks like that is the interior ambient air temperature sensor. the motion sensors are behind the grating on the overhead console
if the key is too close, i dont think it will trigger the alarm. you still can by opening the door via the interior handle, though
i did some referencing of wiring diagrams and parts, and it looks like OP tapped into the auto-dimming rear view mirror for power. here is the connector on the mirror.
i saw some posts in here asking about radar detector recommendations, so here's my two cents: check out Vortex Radar's channel for that stuff. he has been doing this for a long time. also, if you know there is LiDAR in use in your area and you want to counter that too, a radar detector will not...
i had good luck with the Viofo A229 Pro as well (until it started ruining microsd cards). do yourself a favor and do not cheap out on the microsd card. mine ruined a SanDisk Max Endurance 256GB and a Samsung Evo Plus 256GB. i have heard good things about the Samsung Pro Endurance cards
i think im bordering on too many ideas at once, but i got a 3D scan of a few other things, and i had an idea for a custom headlamp switch to control a bunch of stuff.
i could put together a switch with 6 total buttons by combining the faceplate and left and right button clusters from...
