I've noticed on my new cars that at around 3- 4,000kms they start to show their best. You're possibly right about the break in process, but I think it has more to do with cylinder wall coatings than tolerances.

I possibly have. Since it's 1st service (6500km) it's noticeably perkier. I gave it the beans overtaking some cars recently, and it went completely feral on that bumpy piece of road, it actually felt like wheelspin when it kicked down at 100kmh. Quite exciting.

Wait till you get your first 3 or 4 mile detection. I thought the unit was faulty, it wasn't. Blew Gen 1 into the weeds. My first one was of the lot that had a power off issue in some. It was not affected and a software upgrade fixed the problem. Both have been trouble free for going on 6 years...

I get the manual thing, it is more involving. If I'd had a choice it would have been a tough call. There's also the ease of dealing with heavy traffic in an auto.

The weird thing is that the 6 pot Brembos with 370mm rotor will fit 19" wheels, but my last car with 4 pot brembos and 370mm rotors needed 20" wheels.

Mine had 80kms, which I wasn't happy about. But it had been at another branch 20kms away, and had done at least 3 trips between branches. And all has been well.
