That's your opinion.
The echo chamber here is not representative of the opinions of all Mustang enthusiasts, and there are many more than you think who share my opinion.
You and others more than welcome to ignore my posts if you have a problem with them.
I'm sick of the Eleventy-Hundred threads and posts whining about the OKTB date (because of unrealistic expectations for how soon we'd receive our cars), but you don't see it responding to those posts/threads...
I just don't understand what you and others hope to accomplish by trying to shut down criticisms of the dash.
It's a tacky & cheap design and people who are spending a ton of money for it have a right to complain about it. And frankly, if people didn't complain but instead just laid down &...
My point is the S650 dash is tacky.
You can tell that Ford put a lot more thought/money into designing the interior for the S550, versus the heavily value engineered look they gave us for the S650.
Hope that helps!
The nice part about the S550 though is that you could get what's in the pictures below with a higher level trim.
You get virtually the same tacky dash regardless of trim level on the S650 (well, minus the 1 vs. 2 tablet thing).
Not looking for anyone to change my opinion, nor am I looking to change anyone else's opinion. But as I consumer, I have a right to voice my complaints about products I'm buying. I mean, it beats endlessly complaining about hailstorms or the OKTB date.
Furthermore, no car is perfect. I...
The way I look at it, if I'm already paying $60K for a Mustang (which is BMW money), I wouldn't have mind paying a few thousand more for a Mustang with a classy-looking dash, and I don't think wanting one is an unreasonable expectation.
Is what BMW did "all good?" No.
Is it better than what Ford did? Yes.
Are there examples of dash boards that are much better integrated which Ford could have emulated? Yes...
Porsche 911

Even something like the 2024 Ranger would have been nice...
And...
And since some keeping bringing up the BMV 3 Series as if it isn't gaudy as well, they at least put in a *BIT* more effort to integrate the screen with the dash board if you see the pictures on the side of / behind the screens below.
The 3 Series doesn't look as though someone just superglued...
The disconnect, to the OP's point, is that Ford is charging a BMW price for a supposed "economy" car with supposed "economy" materials & build quality...
GM tried this once with the Pontiac Solstice, and it failed spectacularly.
The reality is, Americans want vehicles with a decent amount of space. So they wouldn't be able to sell nearly enough of these to justify the costs.
Toyota can get away with building the Supra, in part, because they...
It still takes a ton of money to produce these cars though, and the EPA (or, by proxy, the Fed) isn't coughing up nearly enough of that cash, last I checked.
Common sense dictates (and even Ford's own financial statements will reveal) it is still ICE Trucks and SUVs doing much of the heavy...
I have to agree.
Plus, there's the fact that much of the tooling/architecture is already paid for with the F-150, so Ford is able to pocket a much larger share of its revenue as profit.
Now, if one said the F-150 ICE is propping up the Mustang, that would make a lot more sense.
