I'm not going to engage in the union bashing and political commentary that other posters are doing.
But yes, you are correct about the impact to production. That's partially why some folks are anxious to get their cars before 9/14.
If you"re so dissatisfied about parts of the car not meeting your expectations, then you shouldn't buy the car. After all, you knew what you would be getting when you placed the order and no one's forcing you to take delivery of it. Obviously, most folks don't have a problem with it and Ford's...
I mean, there have been numerous posts of people with coupes (me included) whose cars have shipped.
There may be a grain of truth to what the OP heard, but it's pretty clear we don't have the full story and thus it could be a nothingburger
The main perk of doing a factory order, besides getting the exact spec you want, is that you're able to avoid paying an additional markup on dealer inventory.
Either way, it's a trade off.
I do not.
While I've owned a Mustang before, this will be my first one I've actually had in my possession and driven since moving to Texas 3 years ago.
I have no doubt I'm going to get a bunch of gawking though, and those may turn into impromptu invites. :)
To answer your question, probably a mix of retail and dealer stock.
I have no reason to doubt mine wasn't built before last week, as I was still able to make a change in mid-July and I didn't get the Window Sticker until last Friday.
To my knowledge, there's no penalty for an early payoff.
In fact, it occurred to me. Ford is offering a 3 month deferral on payments if you take delivery before 10/2. That's enough time to refinance for a lower rate.
Same here.
Timing couldn't have been better. My car didn't have to sit for weeks out in the elements like some of the others. Yet, it got built just in time to ship out along with the rest of the first batch with plenty of Summer driving time left *AND* before the UAW strike.
Just gotta book...
Hmmm, status has changed from "Built" to "Order Confirmed" this morning...
EDIT: Just checked with Ford CSC. It's In-Transit (Precision Vehicle Logistics) with an ETA betweem 8/31 and 9/06.
