The general assumption amongst Mustang owners is that the car has proven to operate just fine with regular fuel, but for optimal performance and better maintenance of the powertrain, using Premium fuel is recommended.
Also, to your point earlier, $500/week isn't a lot for the tier of workers earning the top rate ($32/hr), and this is without overtime.
In effect, their net pay would be cut in half at the very least, which would be painful for those already living paycheck-to-paycheck.

Cars sitting there (it's essentially just a massive parking lot) are in some kind of a purgatory where they've been built, but are either:
1. On some unknown quality hold.
2. Are ready to ship via. train but have to wait on rail cars to become available.

Thw wild card for folks in your situation (who don't have a built/shipped car) will be a possible UAW strike.
If it drags on for weeks or even months, that will delay production turnaround times much longer.

What's stopping you from buying the accessories now?
I know you can't install the parts/components now, but you could still store them until the car arrives.
