Challenger and Charger are still build on the LX platform from 2004, which bases on the 1995 Mercedes W210. As sales proof a lot of people don't care about how old the platform is. While I prefer having the Muscle Cars going into the direction of being real sportscars the last 5 years proofed...
I agree, having ICE + BEV is pretty much impossible on one car. You have to develop two completely different platforms for that. If you want to see why, take a look at the Mach-E. You can easily spot the big amount of batteries stuffed in the floor of the car, from the ground to the interior...
I highly doubt that the S650 platform will be able to pull of a pure EV. There's simply no place for enough batteries. At least what Darren Palmer (head of Fords electric stuff) told me was that in his opinion (so not fact, just opinion) the V8 could survive in cars in low volume performance...
Where do you get this from? Deliveries for the Mach-E begun in December 2020, there is absolutely no way the car outsold all Mustangs through 2020 in just one month. And even for 2021 the regular Mustang is miles ahead when looking at US sales:
Here are the 2021 numbers for USA:
Mustang...
Overall the interior of the Mach-E is the big downside to me. Even though they designed the exterior to give it a Mustang appearance, the interior ist just bland and boring. It resembles nothing of a proper Mustang interior. They should have at least give the steering wheel a Mustang theme and...
Since Ford trolled us with a possible 2nd refresh with the strange prototypes I wouldn't trust what Ford is actually testing. A prototype might even be just for very simple things like adjusting the S550 car to new EU homologations that release every new calendar year.
I think it's safe to say...
I think this just refers to Nascar already designing their new car for Hybrids and Electric, so Ford of course invests money to have these technologies in their future racecars and share the knowledge within the company for their products.
As long as we don't see actual mules anything could happen.
Dodge already announced their EV Muscle Car for 2024. But they never said it will be the only new Muscle Car they have, I would be surprised if they really wait another 3 years for a new Challenger or Charger.
Let's take a look at...
As a long time Mustang fan, member of M6G and big popularity he has his insider sources which of course he will not reveal publicly. He had pretty accurate insider details about Mustangs in the past, so there is no need to attack him based on nothing.
Of course a lot of things are subjects to...
I wouldn't hold my breath that this engine is actually for a car that we would name Mustang. It could also be some heavy duty car that gets the badge slapped on
Which raises some question how the pretty much unexpected new Mondeo/Fusion fits in. Maybe it's an europe only car. But the spiedshots looked like it could have tribar rear lights. I don't know what's worse, naming a Fusion Mustang or adding Mustang design to non-Mustang cars
Thank you for the update. It's kind of crazy that model years now going to be calendar years. It explains why it's pretty silent about MY2022 changes on the Mustang.
If production won't start until January '23 I guess an officiall reveal might happen mid-2022. So it's still a long road ahead...
It's fun to see that in general Mustang forums make fun of the Camaro sales but when asked what they want to see in the next they bascially want Ford to repeat what Chevy did with Gen 6. As a car enthuasiast I of course would love to see S650 being a brand new lightweigth platform, having a...
I can recommend watching this video with Tadge Juechter about the C8 at the 38:50 mark. They invited customers early in development to ask them about certain ideas in which direction to go. They asked how they felt about a 4cyl or V6 Corvette and were roundly booed by their customers.
I think...
Yeah I think with the Bullitt and now the Mach 1 they are really testing out how high they can push the price. Even though I really like the Mach 1 mid-60k€ is insane for not even having the Handling Package. You can easily get a slightly used GT350 or ZL1 for the money. I paid 40k€ for my...
Since the Mustang is not getting a completely new platform I really think they just have to go hybrid V8 to get above the performance of the current models. Having electric AWD would give the car a good boost to accelerate from standing still, which is always nice for quarter mile tests.
Bullitts, Mach 1 and even the C8 Corvette enhance the sound in the cabin virtually and nobody really cares since it's not noticable when you don't know it.
