but did they HAVE to totally botch the styling at the same time?
Changing stuff for the sake of changing stuff is a world-wide curse of designers, stylists, and software eggheads the world over. Where is Thor with his mighty spear to shout 'ENOUGH!" and obliterate this evil in a giant flash of...
it will end when I'm damn good and ready! :) probably the day the production model is revealed and we see that Ford has gone back and fixed all their mistakes (and those hard lessons learned by VW).
The S550 is totally acceptable to me so I will be buying those used if need be. I can't stand...
because they still HAVE a dash. This one has none. And furthermore this is the bitch thread - no amount of calm, soothing voice is going to change the intensity of opprobrium, the rending of garments, the wailing and donning of sack cloth.
but they spent thousands of man hours on it. And it was what the focus group said they wanted.
Or that's what @Bikeman315 said his designer friends told him. :)
there's this nifty "ignore thread" button at the top of the page, just sayin'.
This is the 'hate' thread. Just be happy we're not x-posting into the love-fest thread(s). :)
cooing over eye-candy != sales. Plus we know that the unwashed masses don't know what they want anyway. And unlikely to buy a Mustang either.
We'll find out in 2025 if the S650 changed the trajectory of sales, or worse if it managed to steepen the decline. I'm guessing the latter, unfortunately.
unfortuately for them, effort != success, let alone customer (happy) adoption. VW spent $$$$$ on their dumb-ass haptic and contact switches too. And they are getting crucified in the press.
Marketing/Designers are DESPERATELY HOPING boxy is coming back. They are seriously mistaken. They will get stomped by the consumer and I hope lose many millions.
but the screens are built-INTO the panel for starters and also are a clear net benefit.
Though I'm sure there are plenty of cases where they went too screen happy and removed essential analog gauges and switches to the pilot's detriment.
per article:
Really now? Then why are they a giant eyesore instead of being deftly melded into the background?
PROVING once more Ford is just blindly copying the STUPID that the first movers ALREADY admit as mistakes and are un-doing/done. I could understand if 2-3 years ago Ford was just...
well they needed an imprecise, vague nomenclature for a 'family' of vehicles. You can't exactly call the IMSA racecar a Mach 1 GT3, or Mach 1 S, or Mach 1 dragster. And they can't use 'Shelby' either.
'Dark Horse' is sufficiently cute it would appeal to the kinds of people who staff Marketing...
remember when the world went nuts over the 'notch' on cell phone screens? This one has a 1" border around the whole thing (what, couldn't find a display with almost zero surround? despite them being readily available?) which they didn't bother to try to conceal or manage.
L A Z Y is the only...
they don't teach that anymore. "here is the Ford PR, but use your own words".
When you grow people in environments where you're not allowed to question someone's "truth" or assault them with words that wound/kill because they run counter to the listener's preferences, you no longer have any...
