I'm not so sure about that. We as enthusiasts may not like them, but EVs are better for casual consumers. Less repairs and maintenance, no need to go to a gas station, no fluid changes, fewer things to break, more refined, etc.
That's why I'm not completely against EVs, because I see how they...
Every so often a car comes along, and you're just like, who wanted this? Case in point, the Robocab Tesla just revealed. A completely driverless can with no steering wheel or pedals, meant to shuttle people around, and it's shaped like a 2 door sports car.
It's like "Huh?" That's a terrible...
Jesus, the weight increase. They didn't even try. We give Ford a hard time for a mustang GT weighing 3,800-3,900 lbs, but this thing is almost a thousand lbs heavier.
Keep in mind, the main benefit of EVs is straight line acceleration. This thing at lower speeds isn't that much faster than a 10...
Exactly. Here's the thing, unlike sports cars like the mustang, there isn't much that's special, and unique about most mainstream affordable cars. An electric mustang coupe would be detrimental to the mustang, because it would take away from the car's identity. But for most mainstream affordable...
Let's just use the perfect example of Ford's strategy here. The maverick hybrid. Let's talk about how excitement and passion are relative. I love my maverick hybrid, it's the return of the small, affordable, reliable truck. Is it exciting relative to a mustang gt or Ford gt supercar? No.
Is it...
Which is why a new RS 200 would be perfect. 80s nostalgia is hot right now, AWD all weather supercars are hot, reasonably priced mid-engine cars are flying off the shelves. So an 80s inspired AWD supercar priced at around 70 grand seems like a no brainer. The c8 sold around 50 thousand units...
Not related to this topic, but can we just take a second to appreciate the surfacing on this portion of the s650? The fastback and rear haunch shape on this car is pure sex, that is all.
We can debate the s550 vs. s650 design all day long, which one is better. But the beltline is way better in...
I personally find every car company you mentioned worse looking that Ford's designs. Ford and Mazda are the best mainstream brands at the moment when it comes to design imo because they create stuff that's really clean, and eye catching at the same time.
As for Ford's other icons, I personally believe the '67-68 mustang fastback, particularly in gt 500 trim is the best looking classic muscle car of all time. So I'd love it if the next gen mustang was basically a '67 fastback with modern surfacing. Like a mustang blended with the sexy, sporty...
Or so they claim, they want to create and bring back more "icons". So what would you guys like to see from Ford in terms of iconic, and special cars?
Personally, I'd love to see a new RS 200. I mentioned how in the Ecoboost hybrid mule thread how a high output 2.3 hybrid system with AWD would...
Funny you should mention how it's going. Ford rented the 'ring out, but it started raining, so they did promo footage instead. But once the weather clears up, it's looking like we'll get a run soon.
The fact that this was almost certainly done by an engineer just waiting around with nothing to do makes it even better. The frowny face to the right of it as well, almost expressing displeasure with people taking pics of the prototype 😂.
A balls out hybrid GTD would be cool to see. But I suspect it would be too heavy, and having significantly more power would throw off the handling balance of the car.
You love to see it. An AWD hybrid Ecoboost would, in theory, get pretty close to rivaling the performance level of a standard GT, while being better in the snow, and being a better car for commuting.
Not to mention a 2.3 high output AWD hybrid would be the perfect powertrain to share with the...
