Respectfully, the guy who actually led the design team for the original mustang knows more than either of us, here's what he said. Let's just leave it here.
I'd argue for a lot of mustang owners, especially people with modified mustangs, they kinda are the maker. If I pick a really nice color, and then have good taste in wheels and lowering springs to give it a good stance, and then add things like an aftermarket wing or hood, and they all...
Here's kinda an idea of what that sort of design would look like modernized. I don't hate it, I just don't like it as much as the more traditional muscle car looking mustangs.
My guess is if he keeps this as a one off for personal enjoyment and doesn't try to sell the kit commercially without licensing it through Ford first, he should be fine. I believe the TJ hunt guy essentially tried to create a full on GTD body kit to sell without getting Ford's permission first...
The original mustang was literally designed to look like European sports cars good sir. The design brief was to reject the styling of conventional American cars of the era, and instead create a design that looked more European.
This is also another good example of what I have in mind. Something that's still sharp looking, has a little more of a blocky muscle car look, but is a lot more exotic in terms of proportions. A sort of design that wouldn't lose the essence of what a muscle car was, it just takes it to another...
It's a good looking car, the only thing I'm really not a huge fan of on the mustang from a visual standpoint is I really want to see those overhangs get smaller, it's such an important part of the design. I don't like how the front overhang, that's the metal extending past the front wheels in...
Maybe as a smaller more affordable coupe? I've proposed something similar using the image below which gives me modern '65 notchback vibes. If Ford wants to expand this idea of a mustang brand with multiple models, keeping the V8 around as a larger coupe that gradually goes in a more exotic...
We've had these sorts of conversations before amid various threads, but I kinda wanted to consolidate everyone's opinion into one discussion. With how car development works, I have to believe Fords working on the next gen mustang in one form or another as we speak, either in the form of early...
First off, you have good taste in mods. Just enough to make it interesting to look at, without being too over the top. I firmly believe the s650 suits louvers better than the s550 ever did, because the s650 looks a lot more like a proper muscle car with its flared surfaces and sharp edges.
But...
If nothing else this thread confirms Ford should never attempt to revive the fox body. Everything fox body inspired about the s650 people seem to hate. The interior, specifically the dashboard of the s650 looks very similar to the fox body, just swap the screen for the instrument cluster pod...
It has all the business lol. Fun cars deserve fun colors. People who don't like it can still buy a black car, but don't stop me from having a teal mustang lol.
Exactly, where there's smoke, there's usually fire. Nothing is confirmed of course, but multiple people are coming over 900 hp, and now AWD hybrid. It just makes a lot of sense. Ford seems to be working a lot harder to differentiate mustang variants. They already have a GT 350/ Mach 1...
Was the camouflaged prototype you saw white and black with bits of lime green? If so, that's the RTR Ecoboost prototype. I've watched a couple of vids, that's the only prototype mule there. The mule recently spied wasn't at the show.
I firmly believe when you were talking to the Ford rep, and...
