The GTD was ambitious as hell. It sounds like the s650 base gt is kinda minimum effort, but it also seems like the performance variants are really swinging for the fences.

I didn't know this, but while Ford doesn't own the gt 350 and gt 500 names and has to pay a licensing fee to Shelby to use them, they do own the cobra name outright which surprised me. Bringing back the cobra name certainly has some appeal. Cooler than calling it the gt 500 imo.

Misha strikes me as the kind of driver who would crash trying to beat this lap time. He has skill, but he takes a lot of risk, and has crashed on several occasions at the ring.

I've been saying for years Ford needs to bring the cobra back, either as its own bespoke model, or as a option for the s650. It makes perfect sense if Ford wants go to war with the c8.

A 5.2 AWD hybrid would be my personal pic. Something with a GTD motor and electric assist could easily make 1,000 HP, and would be a bat out of hell on a drag strip. Plus if they developed AWD by having electric motors on the front axle, they could basically bolt that same setup into a mustang...
