Still think CF wheels are gimmicks on anything outside of the Illuminati-tax-bracket cars.
1. Their construction requires basic geometry so you end up with boring designs, so they’re not there for looks.
2. They’re prohibitively expensive to purchase AND repair, because a crack or chip often...
It’s not a Ford thing. This whole practice is systemic and industry wide.
There’s a reason you can’t buy an M3 for $45,000 anymore. Or a Mustang for $25,000. Or an Accord for $15,000.
Inflation exists. Content gets standardized. Safety and emissions standards make cars more complex in design...
Inflation is a bitch for sure.
$55,000 in April 2015 is $70,000 in today’s money. A comparably-equipped DH to a base 15-16 spec GT350 is probably a bare bones model, and back then you could only opt for the track or the tech package on a GT350. Then they standardized the track package in 2017...
That’s always been a route anyone could take since the Coyote came out. You can find dealers selling pre-installed superchargers on base GTs for cheap, with a warranty to boot.
You get what you pay for though
Johnny OldMoney just mad that other people somehow enjoy driving their cars for the qualitative metrics instead of treating them like a roster for club racing
That was my point… My post was in sarcasm mocking the spreadsheet benchracer guy
Because you’re right, there’s infinitely more to car buying than some track numbers
Imagine happily toodling along the road in your Dark Horse and Johnny OldMoney rolls up next to you at a stoplight going “PSHHHH, what a sucker. You realize my stripper Corvette is 3.14 seconds faster around VIR AND I’m 2.1356s faster to 60 than you? Pshhhh what a tool, good luck enjoying your...
Probably like the M1 appearance. The vinyl stuff. Assuming it’s tied to a halo color, maybe blue ember (praying to god you can get blue ember without that shit)
The base dark horse doesn’t have a 4” screen. It also has heated/cooled seats as standard which you cannot get on the 1SS. Also, I’m going out on a limb and assuming all of the standard active safety features available on the other trims come with the DH (LCA, BLIS, LCA, AEB, etc) which are not...
It’s missing a ton of basic features versus the rest of the cars in the list and price bracket, that’s all. I even made a side note expressing that it doesn’t really fit in with the DH; closer to a GT PP competitor in volume and price.
I just ran through competitors on each of their build and price websites
Took absolute base price, not factoring destination, then chose highest available sub-trim and added all options EXCLUDING frivolous price adders (eg stripes, dealer accessories, HUDs, lugs, mats, special paints, carbon...
To make that comparison, we need to know the price of an S650 kitted to be as comparable from a performance perspective as possible, so I’d hold breath on what the performance pack will cost alongside relevant options such as MR dampers and exhaust options.
I bet that 25k delta shrinks to 10...
