It makes such a huge difference in the Ecoboost, and yet we really have no idea how this works.

For really small changes, even using the same car is no guarantee that the difference is real. Lots of things can cause a horsepower change from one pull to the next, oil temperature, the computer pulling timing, no two pulls are ever really exactly the same.
