  1. Next gen Mustang (8th gen) will stay gas-powered ICE well into 2030's

Same thing happened when the Jeep JK 4 door came out in 2007. It too was sacrilege but they sell a lot when compared to the 2 door. I showed a rendering of the 4 door Mustang to my wife when the rumors started. She liked it. She always liked the look of a a Porsche Panamera. So if it keeps the...
  2. Does 5.0 coyote performance improve with octane?

Yep, in traffic, at a stop light, on hot asphalt, at lower elevation, in the city (heat island). What drives me crazy is my wife's 5.7 Hemi Durango and my daughter's 3.6 Jeep Wrangler specify only 0w-20.
  3. Catch Cans - Do They Really Do Anything Beneficial?

I guess you need to look at your goals then too. How about shoehorning a Gen 4 coyote into a Tesla (or conversely a Plaid Tri-motor into an S650) and call it the ā€œMach-E-Avelianā€. But here on Terra Firma, it is not a question of is gunk bad, It’s a question of how much is bad. I’m sure a little...
  4. Catch Cans - Do They Really Do Anything Beneficial?

I get it. I was really on the fence. Not about spending the money but inheriting all the risks vs. the reward if there even is one (to your point about gunk). Also, I had a problem with each of the options between J&L, UPR, Mishimoto, Evil Energy, Ford Performance, and SPE Motorsport. Because...
  5. Does 5.0 coyote performance improve with octane?

Even with a cold air intake, look at my IAT of 110 F compared to ambient 109 F. Also, here’s when it 115 F, but I didn’t catch the IAT. At a traffic jam or light, I get really high IAT, I’m assuming that’s when I need use point in octane I can get.
  6. Catch Cans - Do They Really Do Anything Beneficial?

I look at it as risk/reward tradeoff. Installing one and not properly maintaining or running it in less than ideal weather conditions has its risks. Having one has its potential for reward, cleaner intake, less carbon buildup somewhere (pistons, intake valves), higher octane. You won’t know...
  7. Dark Horse Mustang vs. C8 vs. M2 (Savage Geese Comparison Review)

When I was in the market to buy a new sporty car, I was also considering a Subaru WRX even thinking of the STI, which is no longer made. Although is a 4 door, it could still handle 4 people with groceries unlike the vette. My wife was the deciding factor on that.
  8. First oil change...what a pain in the ass šŸ˜†

I replace the push pins that come out broken. I’ve bought several 4-packs of them. Here’s the part number.
  9. First oil change--checked the oil next day and it was barely above the min mark

Not to scare you but these new Mustang GT’s are a little more complicated to change the oil. There’s a somewhat large belly pan that has more than a dozen little screws and 2 different types of push pins that makes the filter not readily accessible. One of the two types of push pins never comes...
  10. Ford Motorsport AOS - Confused… Self Draining or Not?

FP catch can for the s650 is not self draining. The one for the GT500 is "No emptying required as the separator features an oil drain back into the RH coil cover of the engine ." https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6766-A52
  11. Catch Can Emptying

You’re supposed to check much earlier than 5k. Should be every 1k for a little bit. You don’t want it filling up, sloshing around, causing an obstruction, and /or pouring oil into your intake. That’s the downside to having an air/oil separator. Lack of maintenance can be detrimental, you’re...
  12. Does 5.0 coyote performance improve with octane?

I'll pass your opinion on to my wife as she needs more people on her side (even though she uses 91 in her 14 MPG 5.7 Hemi, which requires 89 or higher but Costco here is 87 or 91 only). Out here in AZ where temps are well over 100 degrees for a long while, every bit of octane matters. I have...
  13. Does 5.0 coyote performance improve with octane?

I end up making it from 100 (Sunoco 260?) at the pump and 91 (Costco Top Tier). I'm hoping it really becomes 93 for the extra $1.35 or so a gallon (or about $22 per tankful).

  15. Make order says still in production

There may be some more dates that are not on the tracker. Depending upon which browser you use, if you right mouse on the web page, select "inspect", look for "network", and try to find your order number & vin number object. There will be a bunch of dates, like receipt date, production date...
  16. The Dash cam thread

I am looking into the Viofo A329TC 3 channel, which has the Telephoto front and the interior Fisheye. My thought here is that in the Mustang the interior fisheye may pick up enough out of the rear window especially given that my rear window is tinted. Would also save a bunch of wiring.
  17. Cleaning Catch Can Filters?

Thank you, that is the exact information I am seeking. Seems like that could be problematic, especially constant removal/reinstall of the hoses. I’d guess they’re not designed to be disturbed that much.
  18. Cleaning Catch Can Filters?

Would you happen to also have strut tower brace? If so, how hard is getting access to the catch can for cleaning? I'm really debating UPR vs. J&L over this since I have a strut tower brace.
