ah misread then, my bad. TBH any future special car (Boss, GT350/500 etc) i feel would keep the GTDs DSSV(ish)/transaxle DCT/ and rear wing placement. but shed the carbon fiber/magnesium wheels/active aero components etc. for cost saving. the DSSV i can see being a "track pack" option for this...
ah right, instantly selling out of all available allocations is "the doubt setting in"
i really want to see this thing at lightning lap so we can actually compare it to the rest of the Ford fleet, because right now all we can see is that its on par with the 918 Spyder at nords, which is on par...
I didn't say they never mentioned the GT3rs as a competitor ever. I said the official Ford announcement had the sub 7 nurb time. Which means the sub 7 nurb time has been a goal since the beginning and even before the gt3rs target. To say it was "added later on once the gt3rs target wasn't...
see, you know whats funny about that, i took a look at the original Ford press release for the GTD. you know whats on there? a sub 7 minute nurb lap. you know whats not? the GT3RS
web archive link to avoid potential edits they may have done later on...
"Turns out it’s heavy."
yet has better power to weight than the 911 GT3RS
"Turns out it’s just a regular mustang with upgrades."
upgrades that require tearing the car down to is chassis and making permanent modifications
"Turns out it’s nowhere close to the gt3rs is was created to beat."...
is the GTD heavy: yes
is it because of the mustang chassis at its core: yes
does that make it a "bad" car: no
does that make it "basically a vanilla GT500": no
like it or hate it, clutch your carburetors all you want, youre looking at the next gen Mustang.
you want to see what the mustang is...
thats just not true
GTD has: wider front and rear fenders, larger brakes, larger wheels and tires, active front aero components, a front-mid mounted engine, an 8 speed Tremec DCT mounted to the rear axle, a supercharged 5.2, active rear aero components, DSSV active suspension.
there are so...
Removal wasn't hard at all, the only 'tricky' bit is having to modify the plastic brace between the valance and bumper of the car, you need to cut off a bit for fitment reasons. Otherwise it's just a Dark Horse rear valence so no real difficulty with installation.
Only issues I had was being...
they wont do a factory supercharged Dark Horse because they already offer the Ford Performance Whipple kit that can be installed at a dealer.
as for the future, look at the GTD and expect to see some of that in future mustangs
for those not watching the race, Ford Performance Global Director Mark Rushbrook just teased a lot of things for the mustang community, first off, they are now actively producing the GTD so those will be showing up soon. secondly they talked about how the F1 partnership its already showing...

After the less than stellar debut of the GT3 last year, Ford saw some major improvements in the back half of 2024. Now it's looking like Fords taking those improvements into 2025 with a front row lockout for...
