3" is a waste IMO if you're going to just put a 2.5" on the end of it, but again there's only one way to see the actual numbers. and guys are making big power through the factory 2.5" mufflers

Getting rid of that 2-1/4" section has to be a good size gain but again...

Where are the Engine Masters guys when you need them!?
Back when my cars of choice were classic Pontiacs one of the biggest ways to pick up horsepower was 3" exhaust, x crossover, and, while these engines were a lot bigger (472-540 or so ci) they were not pushing 8000 rpm, either. Lots of guys, sick of the 3" noise, necked down to 2.5 mufflers. The exhaust gases do not need 3" the entire way to the back, due to cooling (lol, no, its not cold at the mufflers, ever touch one - don't ask me how I know this  ) but the exhaust cools a lot from intensely hot to just hot (Google says "hundreds of degrees"), and takes up less volume, and therefore does not benefit from 3" at the rear bumper even if it does up near the header.

Some of them (Pontiac) ran 3.5" into the x crossover and 3" after.

Maybe the Mustang would not pick up, I dunno, but I bet it would with headers, especially with tuning and an 8,000 rpm redline.

And, yeah, I agree with you about getting rid of the 2.25" restriction has to make some difference by itself.

Maybe I'll pester Q6543 about whether he had a before/after result on just that resonator - he might be sick of me asking about his exhaust at this point.

No, I don’t think I have specific before/after with the resonator
I went to the track stock, then stock with headers, drag radials, then supercharged on radials, then bias ply, with the new resonator and 3.5 pulley, never went back, I just wanted a 9 second slip and got that letting off.. it was quicker to the 1/8 from 6.57 to 6.38 and 111 mph to 115 mph.

but definitely different tires, resonator and pulley.

I got really REALLY into golf this year, sticking greens is more fun than sticking 60 foots.
Now I keep the clubs in the trunk and park in the back corner of the lot like all the other old guys lol.

all that aside the car is flat out scary fast, I barely ever go WOT anymore… but it’s bad AF to cruise around in and still faster than most anything around.

So I had my guy install the Corsa axle back and I kept the smallest total flow mini resonator on there with the X pipe.....There is drone at 1500 - 2000 RPM and also vibration in the cabin. So will be switching to the next size up Totalflow resonator which is still smaller than the vibrant 1792 resonator I first had on there which muted the sound to much.

Did you ever switch to the bigger totalflow resonators?

Yes sir, and it is now perfect with my current setup.....Steeda X-PIPE, with the 7 inch (body) TotalFlows attached to the end of the x-pipe, and then the Corsa Axle-back......I would highly recommend this setup to anyone chasing the perfect sound with zero drone or raspiness

Thanks for that update. When i went to catless longtubes with my corsa xtreme catback the rasp was unbearable. I ended up putting on a suitcase magnaflow muffler behind my h pipe and it almost sounds stock.

Im thinking of getting a double x pipe and having 2 of the 10" body totalflows welded right before the corsa mufflers. Its great to hear those work well at getting rid of rasp.

do you have any pics from underneath? I'm considering something similar.
