S650 vs S550

I researched the "upgrade" from my s550 convertible. Edmund's, Road and track, etc. as well as numerous you tube videos. They were were all sales tools. At no point did they point out the technology I would be giving up. I expected that after 6 years technology moved forward an boy was I wrong. First of all the s650 security system is a joke. The s550 security was sensitive and worked well. In a convertible that is a VERY big deal. Next the navigation went from forever to subscription. Why does that matter with Android Auto? That is because the S550 used the GPS to report the speed limit and it was very accurate. In the S650 the speed limit indicator is sign reading and it frequently is very inaccurate for instance in a 55MPH highway it reads 20MPH. I am becoming discouraged. In the 1980's every car redesign was a step backward and that is happening now. I wanted to give my granddaughter my 1019 Fusion as she goes off to college. I can't find a single 4 door sedan including Toyota Camry that has the features I am used to with out a subscription. My plan has changed I will keep my car and buy her a late model used car. I will NEVER buy a new car again until the next again is an improvement over the last gen.

The old Sync3 nav was forever but quickly became forever out of date with map updates via USB being really flaky.

Sync4 has real time map updates when subscribed but if not subscribed it still works but just doesn't update the maps

Or at least that is what it does in the UK

The S550 used map data to show the speed limit (which quickly became out of date) The S650 is much improved because it uses map data (which is updated) plus a camera to read signs. It may not be 100% accurate but it is much better than in the S550

I'm not sure I agree with car design going backwards, those 1970's and 1980's cars were mostly junk compared to most everyday cars now.
