Still cool to see what can be done.Love to know how much money been thrown at this NA to run 10's . Gets to a point where diminsihing returns per $ makes that blower the extreme value mod
52hp
Steeda's just talking about adding the Cobra Jet, dual TB adapter, and GSC camshafts
Also, they are talking HP at the wheels, where a stock GT will make 400-430 depending on how happy the dyno is.

Well tuning has been a "thing" since july of "last year" now, we are able to tune them to not go into limp mode. The reason for that was because of IPC tq errors going off the charts when the car was looking for under 500ftlbs of tq (calculated), and was seeing way more. So the IPC was triggering limp mode because it figured there was a problem.
Since July, we have been able to adjust the tq tables now to account for higher values and scale up the airload to well over 2.0 so none of the factory airload or tq limiters will cause any tq management issues.
I wouldnt worry about engine longevity under long pulls when you have a correctly tuned car that has plenty of fuel system headroom and correct spark advance. There are gen 1/2/3 cars running around with hundreds of thousands of miles making big highway pulls with 700-1000hp with no trouble. And have for years and years at this point. The S650 is no different.
With ring gap on the stock engine, I am thinking 30 minute track sessions are going to close that gap sooner or later on a summer day.
I wouldnt say you're wrong, but you dont (shouldnt) just pull these cars off the showroom floor and place them in an endurance race in the summer heat with no prep. Lol with tuning, we can change the ECT parameters for the rad fan to come on sooner, and faster RPMs than stock. We can force open the grille shutters for cars that have them. You can reduce spark advance and richen up OP fueling on top of power enrichment pedal demand changes to allow your engine to enter into power enrichment sooner and with less pedal demand (90% is stock). Furthermore, you should add an extra quart of oil and run a heavier weight oil as well.Torque management?
I was talking about heat.
When you have nearly a mile of uninterrupted full throttle at the longest point, and lots of full throttle opening at other points on the track (e.g., Michelin Road Atlanta), drivers who can push and have put the car on sticky tires and lots of negative camber simply cannot keep the oil and engine cool enough with boost.
It is probably due to a combination of the compressed air, horsepower to drive the blower, and the intercooler blocking the radiator to some degree.
You are probably talking about tooling around on the street with an occasional pull or maybe drag racing, 1/4 mile and cool down. If I am wrong feel free to correct me.
Apparently they can stop by the local gas station, fill up with E85, and go run 9s.I think they are on C85 gas but I might be wrong
Iād love to know the cost of these builds. Iām betting itās about the same as the price of the car itself. And if you see in the middle of that video, another NA S650 ran 9.6 with no cams, sealed engine.
Yes and you dont think anyone wouldnt want to reproduce these results and want to know the cost? If its $40k then its $40k. Just be honest. Theres no shame in sharing the total cost of what a build like this would be to reproduce. These are test vehicles built to showcase and validate how different components can amplify performance. The parts/installation costs ... and so does the track costs ā but thatās part of our commitment to the aftermarket.
No matter what parts are thrown at our Drag or HPDE programs, we ensure theyāre proven to exceed expectations.
We'll continue to push them to the limits & document the journey!
Best,
TJ
Weāre not adding up every cost, part & company time ā this is a progressive build. Itās a substantial investment to take the vehicle to the level we have, and we donāt expect many customers to replicate everything we have done ... only picking & choosing their own upgrades.Yes and you dont think anyone wouldnt want to reproduce these results and want to know the cost?
