Hey everybody, anybody out there with any experience with these axle back kits. I don’t really want to do a full cat back. I have the non-active exhaust and OEM is definitely underwhelming. I want something that is a nice upgrade from factory without being obnoxious. Ive listened to every video on YouTube that I can, but it’s so hard to tell. I’m kind of leaning towards the Atak, only because I’ll be keeping the mid pipe resonator in place so it might give me the volume that I’m looking for. I have heard the S type full cat back in person and I liked it a lot. However, the S type axle back I assume is going to be quieter than the fullback version. Would really appreciate some help on this. Thanks.

No experience, I have the AE ( I know, some people don't like it). I would go to a "Cars and Coffee" one Saturday and see if there is any in person knowledge or a car there you could listen to. Just an idea because I absolutely HATE shitty sounding exhausts.

I can’t find anybody with just an Axle back. Everybody has either the full catback or axle back with x/h pipe etc. I’ve only found one person with the S type cat back. Can’t find anybody with the Atak. A lot of people are going with Corsa or even MBRP these days to save some money. Just wish I knew how much louder the Atak is than the S type.

If you’re just going to change the axle back portion I think the S type wouldn’t do much. I’m going to run catless LTH’s and an X pipe and hope that the S type muffler can tame the rasp.

I am leaning towards the Atak a little bit. Several years ago I owned a 6th gen Camaro SS with the NPP active exhaust. I ended up doing the S type Axle back on it and I wasn’t very happy. It deepened the tone but did not give the volume I was looking for. It was more throaty, but it really wasn’t much louder than the factory NPP. My Mustang has the non-active exhaust option, which is a lot quieter than the active exhaust. With that being said, switching to the S type axle back on my car would be more noticeable because of how quiet it is now. I think the S type Axle back would satisfy me for a short time in the beginning, but I would probably be wanting more volume soon after.

I have std exhaust as well and just replaced the resonator with Ford Performance X-Pipe and have been VERY happy with the result. Much nicer sound overall than stock. Plus, WAY less expensive than the cat-back options. Just my two cents!

So you have the factory non active axle back mufflers with the Ford performance X-pipe? Do you have any videos you can post? Would love to hear it.

Yes, all std non-active with just the X-pipe. I will see about a video. It sounds great inside the car! Pretty sure it's louder outside!

If you're going to keep the stock resonator in place, I recommend the Roush axle back. I had it on my S550 and loved it. Nice aggressive tone and clearly louder than stock but not excessively loud. It's less money than the Atak, too.

If you must have Borla, I agree the Atak will give you the volume you want with the stock resonator in place.

Here (I think!) is link to my car getting moved back into garage just now. Should give you some idea on sound at least. Hopefully, the link works!

I installed a Roush axle-back from the S550 generation on my S650 and it was exactly the sound I wanted: deeper, louder, no rasp. IMO changing mufflers + resonator is too loud and creates a vibrating tin can raspy noise I don't like. Like you, I also had a 6th gen Camaro with NPP and I pulled the fuse on that and kept it always open for my entire 3 years of ownership. I loved the Camaro NPP sound, especially the pops/bangs you could play like an instrument when downshifting >3K RPM.

I believe Roush axle-back for S550 is the exact same as for S650, just cheaper. The included factory item packing list has the same model numbers for the parts I believe. So if I were you I'd just find an S550 Roush axle-back that's prly discounted by now.

I was very much considering the Roush axle back. I had it on my 2015 S550. But to be honest, I can’t remember exactly how it sounded.

I just found a deal on a Corsa sport full cat back for about the same price as a BORLA axle back. Definitely considering it. I had Corsa on my 2019 6thGEN Camaro and it sounded amazing.

Hi just wanted to say that i installed ford performance sport axle back on my active exhaust and its the same loudness as factory active just a little bit different tone. Ford performance sport is like s type. So im sure that if u install borla s type its goin to be much louder than non active car. And probably as loud as factory active exhaust

I ended up going with the CORSA Sport axle back. I installed it last Thursday and I have to say I’m very pleased with how it turned out. It’s a little louder than the factory active exhaust and that’s what I was looking for since I have the non-active. I may end up posting a little review. I searched everywhere trying to find some information regarding the Corsa axle back and there’s not much out there. I took a chance on it and I’m very happy I did.
