*not* cracked engine coolant tank lid, it just looks this way

Just casually decided to see what's under the hood. And the coolant tank has multiple cracks. Any way to prevent this? Or it's just defective from the factory?

Also one of the wire harnesses to the spark plugs had stripped wires, maybe it happened from the vibration, or rodents? I put the rodent repellent on the battery cover. Ughhhh

That looks like a defective reservoir to me.

I got rid of the plastic tank and put in a Mishimoto tank with a sight glass to check the level.

Wow. And apparently and evidently this is from the factory the way it’s made. I just came to Ford and was shown the exact same tank cover in a brand new car. !!!! This is normal. Not a crack. Well dang!!!

I think everyone should check their stock plastic coolant tanks. I have 3,000 miles on mine and it has two cracks on the upper half of the tank.
Ford said it’s two weeks out for a replacement.

So I corrected the title of the thread! It's normal. These are manufactured this way, and it SURE looks like it's cracked, but it's perfectly fine! All new cars have the tank that looks exactly the same.

Mine looks exactly the same, all brand-new Mustangs have them exactly the same. It's a seam from the factory, not a crack.

Mine looks the same.. I was going to say that if the tank was cracked, you would know real soon as it would be spewing coolant all over the place once the pressure built up.
