I think the timing is speculation. When I spoke to a higher up at Whipple he told me that when the reason for the hold is made public, it will be laughable as it's so insignificant. Ford is indeed the holdup and unless something has changed in the last 24 hours, they still aren't providing calibration for the FP units. However, as of yesterday, Whipple has resumed providing calibrations for their setup.
any chance your contact has an estimated date of release for the 2026 Mustang GT’s?

I asked but he said it was in Ford for that…

interesting. Any chance they may not release a 2026 kit?
That I couldn't tell you. I doubt they will discontinue though.

I can understand Ford holding up certification. Afterall, if there's a known issue, even if small that can generate warranty, they do well to make sure it is right. A seemingly small issue that turns out to be a warranty item can be no small thing on an engine. Warranty claims are money right off the bottom line. We don't know the calibration risk details, but obviously Ford is having too many warranty claims for known issues right now, and adding another one is not good for business.

Well, the warranty is actually covered by Whipple even if it's the FP version. So, I don't think that's it if Whipple is confident enough to resume sending out their calibrations.

Just another tidbit I just found out. If you have the FP version installed but can't get the tune, you can actually get the tune as if you had the Whipple version installed. BUT... no warranty. I realize that almost no one wants to take that risk. I'm just saying it's an option...

It sounds like Ford may see a risk and is intent on avoiding pointing fingers. Over my four decades of manufacturing career, it was generally the last person who touched the product that got blamed. (The thought process was that the person down the assembly line who also worked on the part should have raised his/her hand, and not ignored or add to the problem.)

And my experience on vehicle forums has shown me that it probably won't matter who pays the warranty bill; if a Ford dealer was the last to touch it, guess who often gets blamed first and foremost.

I hope ford approves the tune by mid October or sooner. I want to drive the car back to south Florida before the salt hits the roads up there or I will have to wait until spring. My timing could not have been worse.

Good to know. How many ponies does that supercharger make at the fly wheel?
