I didnt think the mustang was ever meant to compete with corvette. Put the ford gt out there and see what it does. Mustang and camaro was the two competitors and in the same class. Chevy abandoned the camaro again.
thats what makes this a massive W for Ford win or lose, here the car community is comparing a mustang to a corvette. Easy PR win here.

The Porsche that Ford was competing with had almost 300 less HP than the GTD

Eco Boosts are more like EcoBOMBS
Cite to evidence? Source data, not 2nd hand internet stories. Anyone can play that game, show some actual proof.

You’re correct that Ford does need to put its attention to QA and QC first.

The GTD is a vanity project, every car they make costs Ford, there is no way they are making dime one on any of those cars sold.
yes, definitely a vanity project and it’s about as much of a Mustang as a NASCAR race car. It’s nice that you can buy one IN THEORY. But in practice, you can’t buy one.

But, the money spent on GTD pales in comparison to the Ford EV push that has driven up the cost on the entire F/P line; basically anything you can’t get an x-plan on, you’re subsidizing losses on the Ford EV line.

Ford's Halo car should not be the Mustang, it should be an updated GT
For some reason I don’t suspect they’ll be going larger in the gt anytime soon

Do you know any Ford techs?

The EcoBoosts are a disaster, timing sets at 60K miles. Water pumps that are not driven off the timing belt but still behind the timing cover

a few years ago the Nephew of the guy I work with who is the lead mechanic at a large Ford dealer came in and was telling us what a POS the EoBoost was, and how much warranty work it was creating. He said when these cars came out of warranty and started showing up in small shops like ours it was going to be lots of fun. Like most Fords the 3.5 EcoBoosts have VCT issues. You should not be doing major engine work on a engine with 70K miles on it, but there are a lot of 3.5 Eco's out there that have issues.

If you are on FB follow this guy FordTechMakuloco

People like Farley and Barra are paid to fail their customers.

Ford's heading back to le mans to fight for the overall win, at a time when Ford's very passionate about having this connection between their race programs and road cars. So with that in mind, I'd be stunned if Ford didn't take the hybrid V8 that's going on that prototype, and modify it to go into some mid-engine street car. I could see that car either being a new gt, or a mid-engine mustang to slot above the s650.

I think Nurburgring is kind of a Dumb test track. No memory just a dumb track. Go to road Atlanta or VIR or something for data
The 'ring is the standard because it's basically the most challenging track, but also the best track in the world for testing everything in one place. A lot of tracks are really set up for one thing or another, tight corners, long high speed corners, short straights that test acceleration, long straights that test high speed, etc. The 'ring has all of that. In one lap, you can see how your car responds to basically everything a race track can throw at it.

If you can make a car fast around the 'ring it'll perform well on every other track in the world pretty much.

I just don’t see monster mayhem returning to the pocket size gt anytime soon. That little eboost makes quite the statement in itself. Unless you’re going full on new form just don’t see it. Now a mythical mustang using a monster motor sure why not. A blade is not a sledge.

I'd take an EcoBoost over a GM turbo 4 cylinder (except for the earlier ones with the bad engine block design)

Yeah Ecoboost engines are pretty rock solid these days. That vid someone shared bashing Ecoboost engines is from years and years ago before a lot of the common issues were resolved.

I do follow him, and it’s not the hyperbole you’re making it out to be.
How many ecoboosts are on the road now? It’s a lot.
since you asked about Ford techs and completely ignored my request for actual data:

https://www.fordraptorforum.com/thr...omeone-here-who-hates-the-3-5-ecoboost.99396/

Every engine has its problems, but it’s like Glock kaBOOMs. they’re over represented because reloaders who don’t know what they’re doing are using a ubiquitous platform so there are more stories of Glock kaBOOMs but every handgun has kaBOOM stories.

It’s like it’s 2016 again, when all the “V8 or die” crowd were crying about how nothing ever went wrong with the 6.2 in the Raptor. That didn’t age well.

I didn’t think you had any actual data.
