Dave, I agree that the interior and exterior fit and finish of the M2 is great but out of curiosity did you test out the DH premium at all.
I find the interior to be a drastic improvement over my Mach 1 premium . Also the chassis is much more composed than the s550. Very much like the M2 in my opinion

Oh yes, I love the S650 interior. I have sat in a Premium DH at my local dealer. Huge upgrade over the S550. Drove extensively a Premium GT. The M2 s interior along with the S650 had a lot of similarities. The huge screens in general. I found the BMWs is more responsive and isn't as laggy. The quality of materials in the BMW is quite a bit better. The M2 does have some cheap plastics on the bottom of the door. The M3/4 has better interior that the M2, as it should it costs 20k more.

Just curious if anyone here has driven or owned one of the 2 Series BMW's with the straight 6, M2 or M240i ?
Watched a Raiti's rides youtube video last night on his M2 review and he liked it and compared it to the Dark Horse, about the same price and he did say the Dark Horse tremec was better for the manual shifter. think I would miss the sound of the V8 though, the 6 cylinder did have a lots of pops and bangs when letting off the throttle. thanks! also do you all think the M2 is worth the extra money over the M240i ?
Drove both nothing like the feel and sound of the dark horse. If its the luxury and status feel your looking for I guess the M2. Both great cars but again you can't beat the dark horse feel and sound.

Thanks for the info everyone! Yeah I watched a few more youtube videos on the M2 last night, everyone seems to like it, lots of videos on it also. One thing that surprised me was no ventilated seats, it should come with that at that price. My 400A has it and I do not think I would want a car without ventilated seats now. the other thing is it does not sound as good as the Mustang. It is fun to research and learn about other cars and options though. also interesting how similar the screens are between the M2 and Mustang Premium

I had an S550 Mustang GT, had a 2024 S650 on order I ended up with a G87 M2. I love the thing, and yes it definitely is worth the extra dough for the M2 vs. the M240i. If you want a manual there is no choice. My car is a sunroof car with no carbon and I weighed in at right at 3800lbs. BMW left the forged wheels and the LiPo battery for the M3/4. With the forged wheels and LiPo battery the car would weigh in the 3740lbs area.

Good looking car! so is it lowered with spacers? what size spacers? I watched the Throtl youtube video on the M2 and they lowered that one and used a spacer. you like those wheels better over the black wheel option?

I chose the Mustang because I don't like BMW's and European cars are all over the place where I live.

But if you consider the Mustang or M2, I would definitly choose M2.

Faster in all aspects. Kicks the ass of the Mustang Dark Horse and GT and has WAYY better interior quality. Has front parking sensors, smaller car, easier to manouver through narrow areas and easier to park and way more advanced and costumizable options to add to the car.

I hate black wheels...I am using 15mm spacers and an Eibach Pro Kit which lowered the car just .75" front and .6" rear. Also I am running a 295/30/20 tire instead of the OEM 285/30/20.

If I could have gotten a 2025 G87 they now offer silver 930M wheels and I would have gotten those. One thing though...the G87s with the Red Calipers use the M Performance Brake pads and they squeal like a Metro bus and a 20 mile drive coats the wheels with a nice cinnamon colored dust. Its maddening.

I chose the Mustang because I don't like BMW's and European cars are all over the place where I live.
Thats what I love about the G87, you don't see yourself coming and going.

So with those 15mm spacers did you have to use longer wheel studs or keep the originals? they didn't really show that part on the Throtl video. Will check out those wheels on the BMW build page. Maybe someday when it is time to trade again I will consider one, I do like my GT but like you say I don't think I have seen a M2 around where I live but Mustangs yeah. Do all M2's come with those brakes or is that optional brakes?

Closer than you think when comparing manual DH and M2
Car and driver gave it to M2 and motor trend to DH

Closer on other aspects. If you read my reaction again I was talkin about speed and interior quality. Both goes to the M2, by far.
Manual to manual there have been lots of drag races done and they are close.
As far as interior I would not say it’s far better than premium DH having test drove a couple M2’s

It depends on what your criteria is for "close".
Fact is that the M2 is faster than the Dark Horse in every aspect.

Even the link you shared where you claimed the Dark Horse won, shows that the M2 is faster.

Acceleration MPH
0-301.5 sec1.5 sec
0-402.12.2
0-503.13.2
0-603.84.1
0-705.15.6
0-806.26.8
0-907.48.2
0-1008.710.2
0-100-012.711.9
Passing, 45-65 MPH1.92.0
Quarter Mile12.2 sec @ 118.7 mph12.6 sec @ 113.5 mph

In all aspects the M2 accelerates faster. Quarter mile 0.4 seconds faster with a significant higher top speed.
0 to 100 is even 1.8 seconds faster. That is not close at all lol.

And we don't even have to discuss the interior. It is a fact that the BMW has much better interior quality. The word Premium on the Mustang doesn't make it a better quality than the BMW. American cars are way behind in this area with too much cheap plastics.

The Mustang makes these things up by being a V8, looks more agressive and has a better sound. But speed and interior quality is not even a reason to discuss about lol. The Germans are way more advanced in this.

I didn’t say it won the race, it won the overall verdict of the article review.
And those are magazine times, not real world.
As far as m2 interiors you can spend thousands for better leather options , sure
A Tesla will destroy them both in a race but there’s way more involved than that.

Was I talking about the overall verdict or did I limit myself to Speed and Interior quality?
Why do you want to bring up other reasons to make the "race" look closer?

It's a fact that the M2 is faster in all aspects and has far superior interior quality. That's it.
So now you can say that the Mustang has other things where they shine, fine. But I didn't talk about those other things.
