The RTRboost baffles me. On one hand, I think it has better looks than the S550 EcoBoost Performance Package, even with the wrap on. But on the other, how much performance can it have before eating into GT territory? (I can't imagine it having more than 360HP, let alone 400+). And don't people know RTR more for their GTs, anyway?

I like the four-door options you suggested, but I can't see them doing a rally-tailored sedan. (But then again they made the Mach-E Rallye for who knows why in the first place...)
the RTR is just a GT body on an ecoboost powertrain and some suspension upgrades.

I think it will slot above ecoboost and below GT. No one is going to spend v8 GT money on a 4banger.

For the rally car, I don’t mean a dedicated unit. But one that will have a raptor rier, like a focus hatchback type thing to compete with Hyundai n line, but be able to throw around in the dirt. I’m not into it, but even lambo is doing it so there must be some kind of market.

I’m fine with it so long as it’s a new nameplate and they don’t try to pass it off as a Mustang.

They need to finally do something with the 3.5/3.7 ecoboosts… AND let it be tuneable..

The v8 crowd will scream wail and clutch their pearls all while seeing nothing but tail lights!

We had a 10spd, 3.7TT mule when I first started, car never made it past testing but I was told it flat out embarrassed the GT350

I think they can simply square the roofline just a bit. Not a lot.

but really, an AWD cobra with major firepower would be a great shot in the arm for this gen if they can keep the price and weight down on this dinosaur platform.

anything but the RTR whatever that just came out.

not expecting this gen to succeed really. But that’s because ford didn’t try.

A modern new platform that looks and performs all new is desperately needed. No relying on old nostalgia or “hey be happy you still get this old thing.” A NEW, seriously capable platform. Bringing actual cars back into the lineup is a necessity to help. amortize the platform.

a new Mustang coupe, a distinct new or old nameplate with 4 doors and high horsepower options, a rally capable car, a family eco sedan, etc.

Ford can recoup the charger customers, the Hyundai n line customers, the Camry customers, and bring in a whole new generation of Mustang enthusiasts while reinvigorating the current fans who’ve sat this minimal effort generation out.
That’s why Ford can be frustrating, they already have/had a little bit of everything to compete. A lot of those nameplates weren’t just a quick cash grab either, they all had heritage other companies wish they had. Lol.

the v8?whoops the turbo sixes as is.

Add turbos to the 8s, and not only will the six banger see taillights (but barely. It would take binoculars), the poor car would no longer have doors due to the wind vortex created by the passing v8. Would be worth it though that v8 symphony would drown out the flatulent sound produced by the 6.

Like many others, I'd prefer a V8...but you're not wrong. Seeing what other companies have done with boosted 6's over the years is pretty awesome.

Case in point; I'm REALLY interested to see how well the new Charger will get on with the use of the Hurricane HO. That engine in a full-size truck flat out RIPS as it is. The Charger will make a tad more HP/TQ and save another, what....1,500 pounds?

The Mustang can be saved if they lift it and put some ATs on it with a bull bar and Baja lights!

Ford should remanufacture the 1966 mustangs with only slight changes and start a new generation of Mustangs with better electronics and all that hidden, just a simple AM/FM radio.
It is the ride with the air blowing your hair and simple operation.

Mercedes has replaced the V8 AMG CS with a turbo four/EV that puts out almost 700 hp. Performance was very good, but the reviews said it had no soul. My experience with EVs is limited, but driving one has never made me feel like enjoying a drive. Eventually they will turn cars into appliances that you step into and tell it where to go. You then get on your iPad or whatever else you want to do until you arrive,

That is the worse case scenario and may be true for most people. But it will also take several generations to happen. And there will always be those who will not let the V8 go away.

mic that were true, ALL manufacturers should quit trying and just make old cars with nicer interiors. Man that would be a dismal (and boring) scenario. The past had some great cars. We can buy old ones or get replicas if we want right now. Let the past be what it was. Time to press on into the future.
