So I’ve had my 2024 GT with active exhaust for like 6 months now and I’m just realizing that it muffles the cold starts. Basically what it does is even though the valves are open when I press start, they close for a second to muffle the loud part of the startup and then they open again. I have it on video and I’m posting it with this. Does anyone know if there’s a way to stop that from happening without clipping the valves open? I really do like having the functionality of the exhaust but I hate that I can’t get real cold starts.

I've not noticed that with my AVE. Mine is really loud on a cold start. In fact, it's so loud that I start it with our garage door closed on Sunday mornings so I don't wake our neighbors when I leave for church. Mine quiets down after running for about 30 seconds.

Exhaust is like music for the purposes of this response. Anyone can make a loud exhaust. Not everyone can make an exhaust that sounds good.
Noise /= sounding good
noise /= horsepower

As with music, anyone can make loud music, not everyone can make good sounding music. A truly good musician can play music precisely and quiet.

So, all of this is to say, that’s probably as good as Ford could make the Coyote sound on a cold startup without it sounding harsh, unrefined, etc.

You know the guy in the lowered Honda Civic with 2.5” of ground clearance and a 6 inch diameter exhaust pipe, cruising around town in 2nd gear and never upshifting because he wants it to be LOUD? You could sub other models for Honda Civic- Subaru Impreza is a good one. Anyway, do you know this guy?

Don’t be like that guy.

You can start in quiet mode, set up by schedule, but it’s not more granular than hours per day. I have mine set to 11PM - 7AM. There’s a bit of initial noise from the garage but on a normal mode start, it’s plenty loud and even after the idle settles, it’s noticeable. You could just extend quiet mode start time , if you change drive modes, it will louden right up.

I leave for church around 6 a.m. Not sure how many of my neighbor's would be willing to get up that early. ☺

I get where all of you are coming from but I really just want to stop that from happening because I just like a loud cold start that’s all.

I also doubt that it would be ear shattering because it’s still a stock car.

My car is in quiet mode when I start it. I don't have a stock system. I've got the Ford/Borla Extreme AVE system with an x-pipe. Like I said, it quiets down about 30 seconds after I start my car, but it's very loud until then.

I don’t see a problem here. What are you comparing it to?

And I love the sound of the Steeda X-Pipe. Both do make a tremendous difference and it’s not so Tame after it gets warmed up and the RPMs tail off. Still, this won’t stop that from happening but maybe a resonator delete and addition to the H (or X) Pipe will suffice your ears dB levels.

Have you tried disconnecting the valves (unplugging them) and doing a cold start to see what the difference is? I’d be interested in a comparison video of the two cold starts. Might get more people working on fixing this.

My Wife gets up early to Exercise Classes.
I set the Mustang Quite timer from 5:00 - 7:00 am.
please remember,
I believe the Start up will still be louder than you may want for 45 seconds than it will Quiet Down.
