I bought a Redline shift boot to replace the OEM one.

Has anyone here done one of these? any tips or advice on not cracking the wafer thin plastic 2 piece retainer?

Thanks
Tom

I did custom boot with redline on my Challenger manual. They are top quality. I used a few clips to hold them in position and glued them using gorilla leather glue. Never had a problem.
Glue tem, one by one and puc a small metallic clip to hold it in place. 24h later is cured and ready to go.

I am looking to do the same as you. Care to send some pictures of yours?

Thanks

I haven't replaced my shift boot, but did have a similar issue when I installed a Barton short throw shifter. The two piece retainer was no longer used and had to be completely removed from the boot, which is now held in place with a ziptie that fits into a groove in the new shifter.

I may still have the original 2 piece retainer (if someone needed one) and as I recall, I was able to get it removed without any significant damage.
