Depends if the motor is built or stock. I know lots guys with stroker motors in their classics that are far from run of the mill.

And you will probably hate this, but coyote swapping is all the rage right now.

Slight problem; the '70 has no air conditioning and I'm in FL. It looks like you can buy a complete a/c kit for a classic tho.

When I was 22 my first Mustang - a 90 GT - didn't have working air but I considered myself too hardcore to use it as it pulled power. At 49 there's no chance; I'll literally die.

I always wanted a 69 after I painted a friends car in shop class and got to drive it frequently

I ended up with a 70 Chevelle as my first car because in 1976 all the 69 Mustangs in MA were rot boxes

A couple of years ago, and I already had my 07 GT ragtop, we had three really nice 69/70's come into the shop for alignments.

One was a Shelby ragtop... that went up in flames after the owner picked it up, he had an electrical issue and didn't want us to look at it.... oh well

The other 2 were really really nice fastback/Mach 1 cars, show quality paint, the works.

The Boss is doing the alignments as he always does, and he is trying to chase something under the car that requires mt to be in the car to move the steering wheel

Hop into the car, he raises the alignmet machine so her can walk under it, I'm sitting 8' off the ground in the car.

Christ are these seats uncomfortable, and they are on the floor.

There are huge blind spots

The ergonomics sucked

I guess what I remembered from 1975 was nicer than reality.

Glad I didn't buy one

What you wrote also makes me remember things about my foxbody, i.e. even at my young age the horrible seats would give you a backache just driving around. The New Edge is a modified fox and I know from threads about s197 seat swaps they're just as bad. And I'm not young anymore. It would be funny if I ended up limiting myself to 05-09 models (10-14 tweaked the body and doesn't look right to me) for the rest of my crochety life lol.

We have had them in the shop too, and when you sit in one and give it a good looking over you see how cheaply they were made, if you weigh more than 100 pounds the seat backs bent and the cushions collapsed.

I was offered first shot at an 87 GT that a friend bought new, was in his garage for a good 20 years when he decided to sell it. The gas tank needed to come out, it needed an oil pan thanks to Jiffy Lube stripping the drain plug, and a heater core.

So If I had bought it I would have dropped the whole driveline out the bottom of the car in the cradle and done a re-gasket job and a new oil pump, and probably valve seals.

Shocks and struts were going to need replacing too

really nice looking car, and we had the room in the shop to do it as a side project, but I decided the amount of work it needed for what the car was wasn't something I was thrilled about and I passed on it.

Another case of a car I always wanted and when reality set in I thought better of it.

Now that being said, I had a really nice 92 Cougar 5.0 with every option except a power antenna. Granted the car was only about 8 years old when I got it and it had been a car my partner in the body shop bought for his wife and she was looking for new wheels so I got it cheap but at 8 years old the plastics and seats were still in good shape..
