That's an awesome install Adam.
I really need this to aid parking in my garage (currently relying on the wife to guide me in!) I will order this camera today. Cheers.

A tennis ball works a treat in a garage.

I built something similar to this, using an Arduino board, ultrasonic sensor and some led RGB lights. Works like a charm for garage parking.

Looks great, it's a similar system to how pilots park planes at the gate, well done.

Yep, thats just one video of such a DIY device, but there are plenty others on Youtube or the web with the code and instructions provided for free. If people dont want to build one themselves, there are similar devices available for purchase on Ebay and Amazon.

Like this:

or a laser sensor one:

You've touched on another passion of mine...

A fellow electronics/microcontroller nerd? 🤓

My favorite was the Teensy 3.2 and Teensy LC for their 5V tolerant pins.

I get my PCBs fabbed in China. Professional quality for not much.

And if I can build a touchscreen into the project, bonus!

The breadboard is never far away!

I can't recommend these enough, because I like my glass sliding door just the way it is - in one piece!

Wheel stops, available from various places, but begrudgingly the local monopoly was the most convenient.

Bunnings - 550mm wheels stoppers
https://www.bunnings.com.au/builders-edge-safety-550mm-wheel-stopper_p0164606

$29 for a pair of them.

These just sit on the concrete slab, no need to dynabolt them down, so they can be removed if you need to clear the floor for any reason. I have texta marks to indicate where they sit.

Just coast up to them, and they will bring the vehicle to a stop, unlike any other assistance device.

No need for the parking camera here, and no wife required! :giggle:

550mm wide provides latitude if you want to swing in a bit and create a bit of extra door-opening room, which brings me to these.

If I had my time again, I would go for thinner ones to provide a bit more of an opening angle.
These are 3.3cm deep, but I reckon the last 2cm doesn't add any real value.

I did a video of these two items.

Oh I'm a fellow geek for sure. I'm not a developer nor an electronics expert by any means so I usually just take other people projects and expand on them or tweak them. But I love the building and creating aspect of it.

I build a tri-copter 15 years ago before every man and his dog had a DGI drone. There were no off-the-shelf flight controllers at the time so building your own was quite the challenge. Loved that project.

These are the ones I have, installed within a short period of owning my S550.
