Ice/sludge finally cleared in North TX, finally get to bring her out for a quick, spirited, "i miss you", "never leave me again" drive after a week of being parked in the garage. I missed my baby if you can't tell.

Since we were both off yesterday, wife and I went to an outlets mall about an hour away. Took some backroads on the way with the Mustang in Sport Mode, which made it even more fun. Wife knows I like driving her car. :)

over the past couple of weeks, I bought the Automotive Advantage spare tire... (I have the Modern Spare for the BMW, but I don't like the universal fit versus the almost-made-for-it Mustang option from AA plus they're local to me) but passed on the full "kit" with jack and wrench since I have all of that (and then some) already here. So I decided to make a case for the jack, wrench, extension, socket, jack handles which will not all fit in the spare well... and the case cover can work as a platform for the jack if used in dirt/sand/mud where it can sink in. Plus it was cold here and I couldn't get out to do anything else. And I had some leftover lumber (it's poplar).

I do a bit of HPDE and I always stick in the tow hook just in case I should slide off the track and need a helping hand. If no hook is available, they'll just grab onto whatever is easiest (suspension, etc.) and yank away. Their priority is to get you off the track pronto, not worrying about damage to the car.

However, I hate the factory tow hook, I don't like having to pry off the cover every time I install it, and so I bought one of those aftermarket bits, and lightly modified the car so that it doesn't leave the gaping hole in the bumper.

It's not quite as unobstrusive as I'd hoped, but I think it will work OK.
