Here are a few things to consider...

1. Possible insurance coverage issues should an accident occur.
2. The odds of a roll over (upside down) accident are slim but.... Better hope it never happens and you want to exit the vehicle... because you won't be able to (easily).
3. Roll over + fire = possible death!
Edit add - 4. Yes, you can break the window if you're able.
Good points that I didn't actually think about. 2, and 3 are kind of a mute point with the jaws of life. But still a consideration.

I am thinking I am getting older and looking at the actual practicality of it. Not really interested in everyone's opinions on it's looks but actual real world use if there is any other than the manufacturer of the product.

You could be charred by the time rescue arrives with the "jaws of life".
And by the way this is a serious issue I'm bringing up.

Many manufactures that use OEM type "Lambo" or "Gull wing" type doors have changed their designs because of this issue. Just one example below.

"The Mercedes SLS solved this problem by fitting explosive bolts in the hinges, which would blow up if the car rolled over, causing the door to fall off altogether."

Thank you for contributing to the real conversation and providing actual input. Rather than just injecting your opinion based solely on "how it looks". I already said in my initial post that I thought they looked stupid and don't need to be convinced of this, lol. I was looking for real world users of the product for first hand opinions on it. The information you have provided actually comes closer than anything else that has been posted here.

Except:
"Our kits give you the freedom to open your door as factory, unlike most imitators, Lambo Doors, Scissor Doors, Wing Doors, Butterfly Doors, Lamborghini Doors, etc"

so the kit seems to give you the option to open vertically or normally

I still wouldn't chance they would work as advertised after a roll over. To many moving parts involved.

i have seen and opened the doors on an S550 with vertical doors installed, and here are some things i remember
- the door is really too heavy for this
- the door often made contact with the fender, both when opening sideways and up
- it required opening it out, then going up
- overall build quality and feel were not confidence inspiring at all
- it is extremely terrible and difficult to open from the inside
plus, there are the safety concerns that others have mentioned, as well as the fact that there has absolutely not been enough engineering development put into those kits when comparing them to the manufacturers that do it OEM

I think that you all are missing the point of what I was asking. I already stating that I think that it looks stupid. I was asking more about the functionality of it and if anyone actually had it installed on their car. When the door is closed, it looks like any other car. The door on these cars are long and getting in and out of them can be challenging in tight parking spaces without dinging up your paint. I have not installed them, and have only thought about installing them for the right parking reason only.

Again, I agree that they look stupid, but I believe that there is a practical application/use over the looks of it. I also am not interested in participating in car shows/meets etc. I just don't like people enough for all of that, lol.
I don’t think it looks stupid, but it’s Different.
I wouldn’t use anything like that.
It’s difficult enough for me to get in & out of our Mustang.
Looks like a good way to get a few Stiches in your head.

I hate door dings too and I hear you on what you post is about. My solution for that is this ….

I park waaaaayyyyy the hell out there to prevent such things. Doesn’t mean that someone will seek me out to park right FREAKING NEXT to me. Not saying that this is the answer and I’m sure “functionality” is the purpose here but Lamborghini doors on any car other than a Lamborghini is just asking for it. This is my opinion but it’s your paper and your car so you should do as you please and do that which works for you.

Lol, man I park like that all the time. It feels like 80% of the time I will come out and there will literally be 5 of the shittiest car in my area parked in every spot around me. It is like the seek up out even though there are 170 other spaces they can park in. 🤦‍♂️And the Lambo door option doesn't fix the stupid that seems to follow me around. I have never actually committed to thos hinge option. I am trying to find someone that has and get their first hand experience. In all actuality I will probably never actually pull the trigger on this unless I had a really compelling reason to. Getting in and out of these cars isn't for us old broke up fuckers anymore, but damn I love everything else about the car. It was the one thing that I remembered very clearly about my '02 that I had.

Well, being 57, I can attest to that, “falling in” and hooking to get out but I’ll push on in my Stang until I can’t. But even check with someone who may have those doors on another brand car to see how they like them and not just the cool factor for them. A lot of others on here bring up some good points so far as safety and weight and lord knows we don’t need people getting hurt just for wanting them. Please keep us posted on your finding.

I only do that in the Raptor and then, only for deserving marques. And, I always leave room, I don’t park so close a door can’t be opened (seen that recently).

Because they know you’re not going to ding their door.
