I'm new to the performance car realm, and I want to be a responsible driver. I will not be racing or drifting my car, I just want to be prepared for the inevitable oversteer situation, wet roads, and accident avoidance (without causing more damage), etc. So, I am looking for driving lessons tailored to performance cars in Northern Ca. I have looked at NASA, but they seem more race-oriented. I could be missing something.
My '25 Mustang GT 401A PP goes into production this June.

Even without the goal of rac or tracking the car, you will learn a lot about how the car handles, brakes, accelerates and what input you need to give to get the desired result

NASA would be a good choice IMO.

OK, thank you for this. They have an HPDE-INTRO one-day class coming in Sept. I was confused because it looked as if it was for Toyota drivers...

A very wise man.
Another great training scheme is enforcement driving, but not everyone can do that. It certainly teaches you how to survive doing high speeds in traffic.

Try looking into the Mustang Unleashed experience that comes with purchasing a Mustang. They will give you some of the driving courses you’re looking for and will help you learn the car.

The AMG Driving Academy has courses at both Laguna Seca and Sonoma. Their "Performance" course is a great starting point. It's a little pricy but it's a first class school, and you'll get lots of seat time. It's a Mercedes event, but anybody can take the course. I've taken most of their courses, and I know you'll leave with a big smile on your face. Money well spent.

I'm wondering about these types of classes, and which accessories would help keep s person safe. I'd like to send my Wife to one of them so she could learn.

I can only speak for the AMG courses. The tracks they use have plenty of run-off if you make a mistake. They do furnish helmets with speakers in them so you can hear the feedback from the instructor. Beginners have to start with the "Performance" class first. The instructors are excellent and keep a close eye on the abilities of the student to keep them out of trouble. I've taken six of their classes and have never seen anybody wreck.
I forgot to mention, you use their new Mercedes cars and get to beat the crap out of them while your car sits in the parking lot.

Thank you all for your great feedback. I signed up for the NASA class this September.

From what you have described, a Driving School is what you may be looking for. Yes, NASA is more "race" orientated, I was a member for 12 years racing all over the Midwest. Their HPDE Level programs are some of the best, but may be more than what you are looking for (see added link). I've attached a link to the Mid Ohio School, one of the best in this region for those wanting to learn more about the car and you as a driver.
