I received my Ford Performance brace set today. Ford puts them in a box 2 inches too short, so the ends of both braces stuck out. They were chipped on the ends. I touched up with some black gloss enamel…oh well.

I don’t remember if I mentioned it but I only need the tower brace. The cowl brace came from the factory (20” wheels)

Was going to install, but realized I needed a 15mm deep socket To clear those long studs. So I had fun at Harbor Freight buying shiny chrome deep sockets. Install looks easy once I figure out how to remove this weird pos. Battery cable holder. It’s like a plastic nut screwed halfway down the stud with a zip tie extension that locks on to the pos. Battery cable. I think I have to undo the zip tie part and then unscrew it off the stud.

Anyone else have this thing?

Put mine on today. Managed to squeak it in under the battery cable. Found the pos. cable holder attached to the stud just pulls off…thank goodness. (Only needed the tower brace.)

New socket set worked so much better than what I had on hand.

Could very well be. I think that the rag top adds some stability when its closed, but obviously nothing when its down.

I also ran to Harbor Freight.... But I did not have to cut wire tie holding the battery cable. Just remove the bolt, use a flat head or trim removal tool to pry it up. I did not remove the battery.

I did the strut install 2 days ago. Found out the battery cable holder is just pressed on the stud and pops right off it. It’s not even threaded on!

I also managed to squeeze the brace under the battery cable and up over on to the stud without removing anything.

It was an easy 10 minute job….and using my new deep sockets was much better.

(at Harbor Freight I got sets of Quinns sockets. They seemed nice!)
