For your awareness. Last May, I installed Steeda's heavy duty engine mounts while installing my Whipple to reduce drivetrain slop and minimize engine rotation being felt in my shifter. They initially felt great, but I recently started noticing an increase in NVH and shifter movement when getting on the throttle. I investigated my engine bay and found the red bushings were falling apart.
I installed my mounts using 2 red and 2 black bushings according to their instructions for high horsepower applications:
"2. This kit includes four (4) red and two (2) black bushings (the black ones are for high horsepower applications, over 650rwhp, they will increase NVH)."
I reached out to Steeda via a couple emails and did not get a response until I PM'd TJ here (Thanks, TJ). He forwarded my request to Rodney. Rodney stated that they suggest 4 black bushings for high horsepower/supercharged applications contrary to what their instructions already specify regarding the bushings. They invoiced me $65 shipped for 4 new black bushings and now I have to replace the mounts on my car, again.
Googling "Steeda failed engine mount" shows many trackmustangsonline posts detailing failed red bushings. I think Steeda should review and revise their formula and applications for these red bushings as they seem to be a common failure point. I also think it was poor customer support to charge me for the replacement bushings as they failed being used in the capacity they were designed for.
So, steer clear of the red bushings. If you want heavy duty engine mounts, it appears their GT500 kit uses 4 black bushings, and I suggest that kit instead.
