So today the neighbor's s550 5.0 started to park inside the gates again; evidently his gas leak from lowering the car so it would bottom out on a penny is fixed. And he has some straight exhaust; it just started up and driving away it sounded like...idk; like a kazoo crossed with a large thin piece of aluminum being warbled back and forth really fast.

I came out of the supermarket yesterday to find a middle aged woman and two young kids wandering around my car pointing at things and generally having a good look. I got in and she said we're just waiting to hear it start, I haven't seen a new Mustang before. So I fired it up to big smiles all round. Then as she walked away I gave it the big rev, her reaction was priceless, like it made her day.

So obviously the coyote is a world-class motor and if you have a minute to spare you should watch this vid I linked for some amazing facts about it. The only downside about the coyote cars to me is, the firing order causes the exhaust to sound well, "not right" regardless of your combinations as compared to old Windsor and the modular family engines.

Or is that just old man ranting? Anyone who had a gen-1 mustang looked at a foxbody and said "that's not a mustang." Same with most fox owners regarding the new edge. But in time, they got accepted, the old-timers went away and their cars rotted into the earth.

So idk. It seems kind of ridiculous to reject an amazing machine over an old fox, Termi or modular s197 GT500 over an exhaust note from 16 years ago.

Thoughts? TIA preesh

The Coyote is interesting but, I didn't truly grasp its potential until now. I always viewed the LS3 as the pinnacle of the modern small block.

Ford deserves massive respect for engineering such a powerhouse; it took GM until the C8 Z06 to produce something that cool! This motor is awesome!

No, you're not an old man ranting. 😂

Yep. I knew nothing of the Coyote, then I saw the specs. This is definitely a modern age engine.
Up with the best N/A designs. It may not match the dodici cilindri in power per litre, but Ferrari don't build them by the thousands or sell those cars for under $100k either.

So I've decided to dedicate my life to three causes:

1. Feeding the outside birds because they spend 90% of their day looking for food, which is our fault because we destroyed their habitat. They also to have preen constantly; imagine having to groom every individual hair on your head and body to alleviate discomfort and pain?

2. Letting ppl know that yes Hurst is still making shifters for new models and if you would enjoy max shift reduction at 38% at the cost of a slower shifter with only one connection point to the trans, I think you'll enjoy it.

3. Ironic to point 2, talking ppl out of a Coyote because the exhaust sounds wrong LOL. I tried in the s197 group to an old timer who wanted to trade his 600+ hp blown retro for a newer model and he said he only cared about power to pavement via a throttle controller and not sound. Which I found odd. The majority of the compliments on my car are for the exhaust. Also my car of choice on Forza 7 is the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, and although it's a nice balance between ez-mode magnet-on-track driving and expert-level wild oversteer, the exhaust note is incredible. I get hypnotized by it and it's the only car I use.
